Staying active is just as important in the winter months, even when it is cold or dark outside. Keeping your body moving helps with strength, balance, mood and overall wellbeing.

A Personal Assistant can help you stay active indoors in ways that suit you. This might be gentle stretches, chair-based exercises, following a short movement video, dancing to favourite music, or simply keeping mobile around the home. If getting out feels tricky, a PA can also provide transport and support to local classes or groups, so you can stay active even if driving is a concern.

Staying active does not stop when the seasons change, and the right support can help you keep moving with confidence all year round.

The New Year often brings new routines and a fresh focus on wellbeing. It is also a good time to review medications and make sure everything is still working as it should.

A Personal Assistant can support with organising medication reviews, reminding you when prescriptions need renewing, helping keep track of changes, and accompanying you to GP or pharmacy appointments if needed.

Gentle reminders and a bit of admin support can ease worry and help routines feel more manageable.

💜 Fabulous Friday 💜

It may be raining outside ☔️ but today we’re sharing some sunshine by spotlighting Live-in PA Violah and her client D.

When D needed more than a few hours of support, live-in care made all the difference. Violah’s calm, kind and loving approach has created a peaceful, welcoming home where D is supported with every aspect of his day, from personal care and meals to conversation, gentle movement and companionship.

Most importantly, Violah has given D’s family real peace of mind, knowing he is cared for with warmth and dignity. And the best part? D’s face lights up every time she walks into the room 💜

A huge thank you to D’s family for sharing such lovely feedback and for allowing us to use this photo.

🩷 Violah, you’ve truly made our Friday fabulous and we are incredibly proud of you.

💜

❄️ Staying safe this winter ❄️

Winter weather can increase the risk of slips, trips and falls, both outside and at home. Icy pavements, wet floors, poor lighting and cluttered walkways can all become hazards during the colder months.

A Personal Support Assistant can help reduce these risks by helping with practical steps such as clearing paths/walkways, checking lighting, removing trip hazards, and helping you get out safely in slippery conditions. They can also provide reassurance and steady support when moving around the home or heading out.

A little extra help can go a long way in keeping you safe, confident and independent throughout the winter. 💜

💗 Turning Blue Monday Pink 💗

Tomorrow is Blue Monday, often known as the “most difficult day of the year”, a time when the festive season feels far behind us and the winter blues can creep in. Today, we’re choosing to turn Blue Monday pink and focus on connection and care.

A Personal Assistant can offer so much more than practical support. From companionship and reassurance to getting out for fresh air, a chat over a cuppa or support to attend local groups, having someone there can make a real difference to emotional wellbeing.

And remember, support isn’t just for Blue Monday. Feeling connected matters every day of the year.

After the festive season, it can be easy to slip into staying at home and feeling isolated or lonely. Keeping social, active and engaged with your community plays a huge role in both mental and physical wellbeing.

A Personal Assistant can offer friendly companionship, help you get out and about, or provide transport to local groups, classes, coffee meet ups or activities you enjoy. Whether it’s a regular routine or something new you would like to try, support can make all the difference.

🐾 Is January really “Walk your dog month”? 🐾

Did you know that January is often celebrated as Walk Your Dog Month? It’s one of those fun awareness “holidays” that encourages dog owners (and their humans!) to get outside, stretch their legs, and enjoy some quality time with their furry friends - even when it’s chilly out - but perhaps not when there's a raging storm though!

But let’s be honest… winter weather, icy pavements, or mobility challenges can make getting out safely much harder this time of year. ❄️

This is where a Personal Assistant (PA) can make a real difference. A PA can:
🐕 Support you to safely walk your dog in icy conditions
🦺 Help reduce the risk of slips and falls
🚶‍♂️ Provide assistance if balance, stamina, or confidence is a concern
🏡 Help care for your dog on days when getting out isn’t possible

Dog walking isn’t just about exercise - it’s about routine, companionship, and wellbeing for both you and your dog. With the right support in place, winter doesn’t have to mean missing out.

To find out more about how a PA can help support you locally, drop us a DM or email our friendly team at info@hubcaresupport.co.uk.

The Hub is different......

The Hub Care Support was founded in 2013. The Hubs founders had worked in the care sector for many years and had a vision of creating an organisation that places the Carers and those they support at the heart of everything they do, bringing the Care back in to Caring.

This meant changing everything, moving away from a traditional agency model to create a service that values the hard work and compassion that so many carers bring and also ensuring that they able to earn an income that their skills and commitment truly deserve.

We listened to the feedback of those that receive help and support in the community and have created a new way that lets them individually select the Carers that are invited in to their homes and lives, while making large financial savings over care agencies.

The Hub meets and hand selects every carer that is introduced to individuals seeking support. Every carer must meet the high standards that are required to be approved by the ‘Quality Care Approval Scheme’ including Mandatory Training in 18 subjects, Conviction free Enhanced DBS checks, Identity Checks, references and working within the QCAS Code of Conduct. The Hub supports the Carer through every step, help at hand when they need it.
