CPR & AED TRAINING
Course Duration
The AED operator’s course is carried out over a half day period. Our course is limited to 12 candidates to ensure maximum instructor support for candidates. Alternative arrangements can be made for clients requiring training for more than 12 staff. Course content
Incident Management – a systematic approach which will help you to deal with the incident whilst keeping yourself safe. Basic Life Support – vital signs, dealing with a person who is choking, cardio pulmonary resuscitation and recovery position. Heart Rhythms and how to identify when to apply defibrillation. Assessment
Candidates will undertake a practical skill test undertaken with a partner. Knowledge and understanding is confirmed through discussion with the assessor. A written report can be provided to employers on request detailing candidate performance and any additional training needs identified following the assessment. Certification
As an approved centre Roslin Safety Limited will satisfy the requirements of the Scottish Qualifications Authority in assuring consistency of delivery and assessment. Practical skills are assessed continually by the instructional staff throughout the duration of the course. Certificates are valid for three years following which candidates can requalify by undertaking another ½ day CPR & AED Training course. Annual refresher training is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive and Resuscitation Council to maintain skill sets. Prices

COMBINED ANNUAL SKILLS AND AED REFRESHER COURSE
Our combined annual skills and AED refresher course is designed for clients who provide their staff with an opportunity to maintain their First Aid at Work/Emergency First Aid at Work and defibrillator operator skills. Annual refresher training is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive and Resuscitation Council. Course Duration: 6 hours
Course Content
Keeping yourself safe – preventing cross-infection and hazard assessment. Incident Management – a systematic approach which will help you to deal with the incident. Unconsciousness – managing the unconscious casualty to ensure an open airway, includes dealing with seizure. CPR – dealing with a casualty who is not breathing. Choking – dealing with a choking casualty. Wounds & Bleeding – dealing with external & internal bleeding and how to deal with shock. Defibrillation. Certification
Annual refresher training is not certificated, however a letter of completion can be provided for continuous professional development purposes. Prices

ANNUAL SKILLS REFRESHER

Level 5 SQA Award
The Emergency First Aid at Work course normally takes place in one day with 6 hours of student contact; special arrangements can be made for clients requiring a more flexible delivery, which include weekend days or two evening sessions over the course of a week / fortnight at various local educational facilities. On completion of the course, successful candidates will be able to:
Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions;
Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures;
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure;
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock;
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries. Assessment:
As an approved centre Roslin Safety Limited will satisfy the requirements of the Scottish Qualifications Authority in assuring consistency of delivery and assessment. A a short written test to a practical test followed by a short question and answer session to confirm knowledge and understanding. SQA Emergency First Aid at Work certificates are graded as level 5 qualifications, equivalent to a standard grade credit pass. PRICES
