Samsung Reportedly Preparing Its First Rollable Smartphone for 2025 Launch
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its first rollable smartphone in 2025, a bold design that could redefine the boundaries of mobile engineering and potentially signal the next major leap in Samsung’s dominance of the premium smartphone market.
Unlike foldable phones that hinge inward, this next-generation concept features a rollable OLED display that expands horizontally from one side, transforming a compact handset into a 12.4-inch tablet-sized screen. According to industry sources, the device is part of Samsung’s Next Flex initiative — a program focused on exploring new flexible form factors beyond folding.
Early prototypes suggest cutting-edge innovations such as zero-crease displays, under-display cameras, and graphene-based cooling systems designed to handle increased performance demands. The rollable screen reportedly uses stretchable polyimide glass, the same advanced material Samsung developed for its Galaxy Z Fold lineup, now refined for seamless lateral expansion.
If it debuts alongside — or potentially replaces — the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the rollable could redefine portability, productivity, and screen real estate for the next generation of devices.
