The weekly Integral Eye Movement Techniques (IEMT) Q&A with approved trainer Matt Kendall.

----------

Why are you discrediting the new eye accessing diagram on Facebook?

----------

What is the real benefits of this over other therapies. How does the client feel after 1 session and how many sessions should a client have??

----------

Hi Matt, I would appreciate any info on how to approach tinnitus and fear of the dentist? Have you had any success with tinnitus?

----------

I’m curious how others approach IEMT work with clients who present with emotional numbness rather than clear negative feelings.

I’m working with a client who describes herself as “neutral”, “flat”, and very used to “just getting on with things”. She doesn’t experience strong emotional spikes and finds it hard to identify what she feels in her body. There’s a sense that emotional containment has been her normal way of coping for a long time.

My current thinking is that numbness itself isn’t something to process directly, and that the work may sit more around identity imprints and chronic patterns such as:

“I’m someone who copes”

“I stay within limits”

“This is just how I am”

I’d love to hear from others:

How do you decide whether to start with identity work versus continuing to look for underlying emotions?

Do you find that identity work often allows emotions to emerge later without forcing them?

Are there alternative approaches within the IEMT framework that you’ve found particularly effective for clients like this?

Any perspectives or experiences would be really welcome.

----------

What do you do when someone has a lot of protector parts coming up that don’t let them feel most of the emotions or access their memories?

----------

Hey Matt. What do you do when someone started doing eye movements, yet doesn't want to continue for more rounds?

What do you do when an emotion you've worked on and went down to less than 2, is much higher on the follow up on next session?

----------

If someone comes to you with a limiting belief should we work on it directly, or use the I, Me, Self and You work?

----------

If someone has suicidal thoughts and is using alcohol as a coping strategy, as it safe to use identity work?

IEMT Q&A 3rd Feb 2026 with Matt Kendall

-------

Hi, how would you work with someone who wants to cut their sugar addiction?

-------

Hi Matt. Here are 2 questions about marketing:

1. Does it make sense to make an Ebook explaining what is IEMT and it's applications, or is it better to make one focused on just one type of problem and how IEMT can help to overcame that?

2. I have created a FB page and a FB group about IEMT. What should i post on the FB page and on the private FB group? doesn't make sense to post the same, and I'm not seeing what type of content should be private.

-------

Hi Matt, I have a client who has deep anxiety around passing a driving test.
We worked through anxiety using the 3 pillars.

I also thought it would be helpful to work on the driving test as a future event, how would I go about this?

-------

I worked with a client for the first time last week and after the session they said they were tired and spaced out. Is this normal?

-------

Can IEMT be done under Hypnosis?

-------

Is IEMT best done in person or online?

IEMT Q&A 27th Jan 2026 with Matt Kendall

-----------

In IEMT is it important the speed of the finger/eye movements?
I read an experiment with EMDR eye movements where the fast speed EM got better results than slow speed EM.

-----------

Just had a consultation and the client has cataracts. One eye already operated and he's waiting on surgery for the other eye. He can see and move his eyes around...assume IEMT should still work fine?

-----------

After two rounds of the intro demo the emotion is still 5/10. What do I do now?

-----------

Can IEMT be used in conjunction with CBT?

-----------

How do I get myself out there and seen?

-----------

My client is a 23-year-old woman. When she was much younger, she underwent EMDR therapy. She is still struggling significantly with fear of failure.

She reports that when she receives critical feedback during an evaluation, she immediately goes into panic and thinks: I did badly.

In the first session, I worked with memories related to failure.

In the second session, I focused on the identity belief “I am not good enough” and applied the I, Me, Self, You protocol.
I applied the I, Me, Self, and You protocol three times. There was only a small shift in age perception: for I, from 15 to 20 years old, and for Self, from 17 to 19 years old.

What stood out to me is that she has difficulty accessing memories during the sessions.

The feeling is familiar to her, but she is unable to access any specific memories.

What would you advise me to do next?

-----------

One additional point: She does report a small change in daily life following the sessions. Recently, she was not feeling emotionally well. Normally, this would trigger thoughts such as “I have to do well” and “What if it goes wrong?”, accompanied by strong self-imposed pressure.
This time, however, she noticed a different internal response: “It can happen that I’m not having a good day. If it goes wrong, then it goes wrong.” She herself describes this shift as a baby step.

IEMT Q&A 21st Jan 2026 with Matt Kendall

--------------

I have a client with self diagnosed PTSD coming in next week. When working on this, do you actually draw/show the PTSD model while going through it with an example story? And is it possible at all to NOT work with the model?

--------------

Can IEMT be used with clients who have FND Functional Neurological Disorder

--------------

Can IEMT be used to help someone with Intermittent fasting?

--------------

What exactly is the aftercare with the IEMT training course?

--------------

I have an IEMT list on the association site and a page on my website, how do I attract more IEMT clients?

IEMT Q&A 13th Jan 2026 with Matt Kendall

Does IEMT use bilateral stimulation as EMDR and how many sessions (roughly )are enough as a protocol? EMDR says 12-16 is enough roughly. Thanks

---------

Please give me in details and based on physiological point of view what happens during client practicing the IEMT by his coach. What is happening inside his brain ?

--------

Hey I have a question- in demos during some consultations I’m noticing that some people don’t experience any visual representation when accessing a memory. How do you approach IEMT in those cases?

--------

And what do you say to someone who had zero shifts after working twice on the same memory (during the demo)?

--------

When working with someone, do you ever feel it’s important for them to be standing while doing the eye movement versus sitting (is their posture important)?

--------

Does wearing glasses or contact lenses have an impact on the eye movement work?

--------

When is the next IEMT Training?
