If BCDD made action figures:
We are loving this trend at the moment.
For many of us of Caribbean heritage, whether growing up in Britain or in our home countries, while our parents taught us to aim high and instilled in us the importance of education, it was often difficult to find representatives in the careers we aspired to, and even rarer in our toys. These limiting beliefs about what careers are accessible to Caribbean people typically take root in childhood, shaping our perceptions of what's possible for our futures.
At BCDD, we recognise this reality and believe we have a crucial part to play in raising the aspirations of young people in the Caribbean community. Through our targeted school outreach programmes, we work directly with children to challenge these early limiting beliefs and increase visual representation of Caribbean people in medicine and dentistry. By connecting young people with professionals who look like them, we hope to expand their vision of what's possible for their own futures.
Our membership is made up of diverse professionals who serve as powerful role models: leaders in their respective fields, champions of equality, diversity and inclusion, clinical entrepreneurs, and founders of charitable initiatives. These individuals are making a meaningful impact both here in the UK and in the Caribbean, demonstrating the breadth of influence that Caribbean heritage professionals can achieve in healthcare.
We invite you to join our growing network of changemakers. You'll get access to a supportive community with exclusive access to leadership and professional development opportunities.
Membership is available from as little as £2 per month.
