I started my social care journey at the ripe age of 17 years old and mainly received my grounding whilst working and learning within a number of local authority-run services. This ranged from day services, community support, residential and supported living services for the elderly, people with physical and adults with learning disabilities and people with mental wellbeing support needs. After 10 years as a support worker, I had a passion for making a difference to peopleโs lives. I wanted to share my ethos and focus on change at the management level and to thus empower me and other support teams to make a difference by way of implementing a truly individual focused approach to the delivery of care and support.
Throughout my 27 years to date working within this sector, my management experience has led me to oversee a range of services such as Live-in care, Step down services, services which are deemed challenging, supported living and residential homes. I feel my experience has developed a social care professional with extensive knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices and their application in complex cases.
I have a proven track record in enhancing and developing services to ensure the best possible outcomes. My next journey with my colleague Beauty is with the view to again implement my ethos and ethical understanding to make a change for vulnerable adults by the development of Create Support Ltd.
