Former Prime Minister David Cameron has shared that he was recently treated for prostate cancer - discovered after his wife encouraged him to take a PSA test.
His experience is a reminder of how important early checks can be.📝
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in UK men, and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime. ⚠️
Despite this, you might be surprised to learn that in the UK there is no national screening program for prostate cancer. Instead, men over the age of 50 can ask for a PSA test from their GP.😲
However, studies have shown that having a baseline PSA test before you’re 50 can predict your risk of prostate cancer 20-30 years later. So if you are over the age of 45 or are at higher risk you should really get checked.
