A real pleasure to speak at Cockermouth school today on careers week about how I got to where I am today and what I have learnt along the way. As I prepared for the talk, I realised the following:
English and Maths GCSE were really useful later in life as a gateway to other jobs (who knew aged 13!)
Every time someone said "girls can't do that", I liked proving them wrong.
When I couldn't do something, I looked for help in my team or to other guiding influences in my orbit to show me how and what i needed to do to get where I wanted to be.
If at first you don't succeed, TRY AGAIN!
Here's wishing Year 9 at Cockermouth school the very best of luck.
“Year 9 received an excellent assembly this morning delivered by Carol from . She spoke about her varied career and shared an aspirational message that reflected our school values perfectly.”
