The good news post is here! Part 4
Leaky Gut? We CAN rebuild the lining.
A four-step process for helping to heal leaky gut:
The 4 R's
-Remove foods and factors that damage the gut.
-Replace these with healing foods as you follow an anti-inflammatory leaky gut diet.
-Repair the gut with specific leaky gut supplements like collagen, licorice root, marshmallow root, bone broth, apple cider, ginger
-Rebalance your microbiome with probiotics (beneficial bacteria).
Remember the HCL solution I mentioned earlier? (see previous 3 posts) Antacids, sugars and inflammatory foods can decrease this crucial solution and can cause unbalanced bacterial overgrowth that can lead to leaky gut and helicobacter.
Also - less stress, decrease junk food and get enough sleep.
-Remember: The aromatic use of fragrance oils can have a monumental impact on our gut bacteria. That’s because our olfactory system has a symbiotic relationship with our vagus nerve, which regulates our gut-brain-axis.
Therefore, essential oils might be able to biohack your mental and digestive health! (Just Gut Science.com)
Some of our recommended oils:
*Peppermint Essential Oil: This oil can make those minor stomach pains go away, and research shows that when combined with fiber, peppermint oil can be effective at treating IBS.This oil can be taken internally with water or diluted with coconut oil and rubbed on the abdomen (zyto.com).
Thyme Essential Oil: Used by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, thyme is another beneficial oil for gut health. This herb has been found effective in treating small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) while protecting beneficial bacteria at the same time (zyto.com).
