Battling against that constant niggling feeling that you’re not *good enough* is the worst…

😈 feeling like you’ve just got to where you are by fluke and any day now someone will call you out.
😈 always comparing yourself to friends & colleagues and coming up short.
😈 knowing that no matter how hard you try you’ll always believe you could have done more.
😈 setting such high standards for yourself that you never reach your perfectionist goals.
😈 constantly wishing you were cleverer/thinner/faster/better/funnier.

I feel you because I spent YEARS stuck in this internal battle.

Whats the worst thing about worry? (apart from it being exhausting, overwhelming and all-consuming of course…)

It doesn’t change a thing.

Spending your time worrying is like walking around with your umbrella up in just case it rains.

The truth is:

🙅🏼‍♀️ Panicking over your jam packed iCal doesn’t create more time in your day.

🙅🏼‍♀️ Worrying endlessly about your annual review won’t change your boss’s opinion of you.

🙅🏼‍♀️ Agonising over whether your date fancied you doesn’t make them more likely to text you back.

All it does is work you into a frenzy and fill your mind with all the (suddenly highly plausible) worst case scenarios.

** spoiler - you’re probably not about to get fired in front of your whole team and your date is unlikely to have escaped to Brazil to avoid another awkward G&T with you **

Imagine what you could do with all that time you usually spend overthinking… wouldn’t you rather cosy up on the sofa with a chamomile cuppa? Or slip on your lulu lemons and hit the gym with your friend? or actually prep that presentation you’ve been so busy procrastinating?

You’re used to things being available when you want them…

Order a pad thai on Deliveroo and its at your door before you’ve finished an ep of YOU.

Your iPhone is an extension of your arm so knowledge is always Google-able within seconds.

You can get an Uber at your door in under 5 mins and Amazon delivers your dog food quicker than you get yourself to the pet shop.

It’s incredible what is accessible to you within a very short amount of time and at minimum effort, but I believe we’re all deeply impatient because of it.

And that attitude doesn’t fly when it comes to your healing.

Quick fix mentality has you waiting till you’ve crashed and burned before reaching for the Night Nurse, forgetting that prevention is the best cure.

I have a confession to make… 🥺

I recently overcame my fear of driving in London. I’m perfectly confident whizzing down the M4 and dodging rabbits on windy country roads, but something about the big red buses and cocky cyclists planted a deep, unshakeable fear in me.

And it can feel a bit embarrassing to be so incredibly anxious about something seemingly so simple - maybe similarly “minor” things turn you into a bag of nerves?

You definitely won’t be alone if you’re nodding along with an anxious feeling tightening in your chest…

So do you want to know how I turned things around?

I hypnotised myself! No, it’s not as mad as it sounds. I applied everything I know about anxiety, exposure therapy and hypnosis to my own little brain, treated myself with the patience and compassion I’d show to a nervous client and BOOM ~ problem solved 🙌🏻

These days I can happily hop into my little purple car (my husband thinks he bought a silver car, I think he’s colour blind…) and cruise to my destination listening to the latest ep of How to Fail feeling cool as a cucumber.

Not only am I not afraid, I actually enjoy it. Can you imagine how bloody empowering that feels?!

This is something I get asked a LOT 🤩

Because the minute you hear the word hypnotherapy I bet you’re all thinking about swinging pendulums, “look into my eyes” and people doing weird embarrassing stuff on stage right?

I sat next to a guy at a wedding the other day who was worried I could hypnotise him without him realising while we were chatting 😂

There is a lot of mystery and misconception surrounding hypnosis, but I can assure you what goes down in my sessions is NOTHING like what you watch Derren Brown do…

So hopefully this removes some of the mystique and gives you an idea of how this incredible therapy works… 👇🏻
 
Hypnotherapy uses focussed attention to create fundamental shifts in the subconscious mind; breaking down limiting beliefs and introducing more positive and supportive ways of thinking. By bypassing the logical, rational (and often very noisy!) part of your mind we can quickly and efficiently implement impactful and long-lasting changes.

Hypnosis uses tools such as deep relaxation and visualisation to increase peaceful self-awareness, heal deep rooted issues that are causing you discomfort and open the mind to new possibilities and ways of thinking.

And the coolest part is it’s not woowoo and magical like it sounds. It is well researched, evidence based and proven to be the most effective form of therapy over the shortest period of time 🙌🏻

Unpopular opinion alert… I don’t really believe in morning routines ❌

Yes, loads of people swear by them and loads of super inspirational peeps put their success down to their well structured morning, but for me it feels too rigid. I want to meditate/exercise/journal because I want to, not simply so I can tick it off my to do list.

For me, its way more important to start your day intuitively. We’re cyclical beings and our wants and needs change throughout the week/month/seasons! So instead of having a strict regime I choose to check in with myself each morning and allow flexibility.

Whilst each day is different, here are a few things I do more often than not, which help make my mornings magical.

🍋 I usually start with a herbal tea with lemon juice and a big glass of water.

📔 If I journal, I’ll write down 3+ things I am grateful for, 3 affirmations and my intention for the day. Gratitude practice makes me feel positive and reminds me how much I have to be thankful for, whilst affirmations and intentions inspire me for the day ahead.⁣

🥬 Often I’ll make a big juice or smoothie filled with fruit and veg and I’ll sit and read while I drink that. I’m a proper little book worm and making time to read every day makes me so so happy.

🧘‍♀️ I’m not big on high intensity exercise but I swim or stretch most days and will always go for a long dog walk in the morning.

📱 The most important part of all of this is that I won’t turn my phone on until 9am at the earliest, because waking up and being flooded with loads of notifications does not make me feel happy or peaceful or inspired 💁🏼‍♀️🌟⁣

I love hearing about people’s morning routines partly because it gives me ideas and inspiration but also just because I am nosey 😜⁣

I know that isn't what you want to hear…  we don't want to take responsibility for ourselves because it's easier to throw the blame and play the victim.
 
Not only is that crazy disempowering, it's doing terrible things to your self-worth and confidence.  You're unconsciously supporting that little voice in your head that tells you:
