First day at LSE for Global Health Policy, and I’m still soaking it all in—excited, a little overwhelmed, and deeply grateful. It feels like such a big step, but it also reminds me of where I come from. Growing up in Nepal, I've seen firsthand the challenges we face in healthcare, and now, being here, I feel like I have the chance to really make a difference. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Chevening Awards (FCDO) and the amazing team that shaped this course—thank you for believing in me and in all of us. There’s so much to learn, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.

As the first cohort representative from Nepal for the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) program, I have witnessed tremendous growth and positive impact through this initiative. I am thrilled to invite you to join our Alumni-Led Recruitment Webinar for the 2025 CEE program.

This webinar is an excellent opportunity to gain detailed information about the CEE program and engage directly with us. The Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program, is a year-long, leadership development program for emerging civil society leaders. Through a three-month exchange in the United
States, follow-on community engagement projects, and robust alumni programming, CEE equips the next generation of civil society leaders to develop sustainable, multisector solutions to

Message from USYC Alumni:

Do you believe in the power of small actions to create significant impacts? Your journey, just like mine, could begin with the flutter of butterfly wings. As a member of the unique COVID USYC batch from 2019-2021, I found more than just friendships – I met inspiring changemakers.

One of the most impactful experiences was leading the "Nepal Health Conclave," a project initiated during my time as a United States Youth Council fellow. This event gathered esteemed health professionals, both national and international, to discuss health policies and share insights on combating COVID-19. Even during the pandemic, the event reached over 48,000 individuals and enabled the convergence of leaders from various healthcare sectors.

Through this platform, I gained lifelong mentors and an invaluable network. I share my story to encourage you: this could be your defining moment too. Don’t hesitate—apply!

Who Should Apply?

* Those committed to actively engaging with the Council for the one-year duration. We respect your existing commitments and understand the Council's supplementary nature, yet it requires a degree of active participation.

Community Mobilization for Health Literacy’ is a pioneer project to bring together as many stakeholders as possible in the delivery of resources and services to address the health issues of the Nepalese community. The primary focus of the project is on the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) of adolescent girls between 10-19 years of age. The project is intended to create a ‘Safe Space’ for adolescent girls through meticulous literacy on the matter.
The first step of the project includes training the selected health champions who will then train and educate young girls in the community in the second phase. For this, champions will be selected from each medical school in Nepal. The selection shall be based on the meritocratic system along with the consideration for the inclusivity of the team.

“I was so very honored and humbled to be able to spend a day at the World Health Organization headquarters. Walking through the large hallways of this building embedded me with a greater sense of purpose. Meeting the various personnel working diligently in the global health sector amidst the pandemic really taught me about the unique combination of strategy and compassion that goes into fighting the devastation brought about by nature. Moreover, it taught me about the power of humanity. It also taught me the need to have backup resources for crisis situations. The greenery of the hills mixed with the rumble of urban voices, the honking of horns and the melodies of birds chirping make the city a spectacle to visit. I have attempted to preserve all of these memories in the clips of this video. I hope you enjoy it. Happy watching! ❤”
