Is your nervous system flexible? 🤸‍♀️

If your nervous system can move into fight or flight quickly and then back into a parasympathetic state quickly, then it is!

This means that you can deal with difficult situations, but you can come out of those situations and feel okay again fairly quickly.

What you want to avoid is being stuck in the fight or flight state.

And if you find yourself often getting stuck, this is when you need to take action to improve.

Because it can end up impacting your long-term health, which is often where chronic illness comes from.

Not sure what state your nervous system is in? DM me ‘NERVOUS SYSTEM’ and let’s talk it through🤍

8 signs you’re stuck in fight or flight 👀

Nervous system regulation starts with awareness.
You can’t change a state you haven’t recognised.

If you’re in fight or flight, your job isn’t to push harder, optimise more, or “fix” yourself.
It’s to meet the state you’re in and respond appropriately.

Here are 8 signs you may be stuck in fight or flight:

😣 Tightness in the chest
😣 Headaches
😣 Feeling on edge or jumpy
😣 Increased irritability — everything gets under your skin and your reactions feel out of proportion
😣 Racing thoughts
😣 Deep tiredness (even if you’re wired)
😣 Anxiety
😣 Strong cravings to dopamine your way out — food, shopping, Netflix, alcohol, gambling, scrolling

If you recognise yourself here, don’t mess with your nervous system.

This is not the moment for discipline, restriction or pushing through.
This is the moment for calming, grounding and safety cues.

Regulation first.
Everything else comes after.

I’ll share simple ways to do this in my next post — keep an eye out.

5 easy ways to get your body out of fight or flight 🙌

Social media loves to tell you that nervous system regulation means more:
more clean eating
more workouts
more supplements
more protocols

But when you’re stuck in fight or flight, more is often the problem.

Regulation usually comes from less — less stimulation, less pressure, less trying to fix yourself.

If you’re in fight or flight and want to come out of it, these are my go-to resets:

① Step away from the gym
Hard workouts can keep you stuck in stress mode.
Lying down, reducing stimulation, and genuinely resting often does far more for your nervous system than pushing your body.

② Plant your feet and shake
Stand barefoot if you can. Shake out your arms, legs, jaw, shoulders.
This helps discharge excess stress energy from the body.

③ Push hard against a wall
Strong, steady pressure gives your nervous system a sense of containment and support.
Simple. Grounding. Very effective.

④ Bang a cushion into the bed
Physical expression helps move trapped energy out.
It doesn’t need to look pretty to work.

⑤ Scream into a pillow
Sometimes frustration needs an outlet.
Anger may come first. Tears often follow.
Both are regulating.

From a food perspective — don’t overthink it.
Stick to 3 proper meals a day.
Eat enough protein.
Reduce ultra-processed foods.
And don’t fast — restriction signals threat and keeps you stuck in fight, flight or freeze.

If you feel chronically wired, exhausted, anxious, or unable to switch off — this isn’t a willpower issue.
It’s a nervous system pattern.

And it’s changeable.

THE EVERYDAY LENTIL PASTA 💚

Simple. Nourishing. Easy to throw together.

Red lentil pasta tossed with roasted courgette, peppers and mushrooms, finished with a generous spoon of vibrant pesto.

High-protein, plant-based, and perfect for an effortless lunch or dinner.

My go-to combo? red lentil pasta with their basil pesto.
Great quality, clean ingredients, and none of the unnecessary extras.

This is the kind of comfort food your nervous system actually likes — grounding, satisfying, and genuinely nourishing.

Comfort food that loves you back 🍝🌱

Let’s make 2026 the year you feel in control of your health, regulated and energised🤍

DM me ‘2026’ to get started!

Planning to detox this month? Read this first ⬇️

A lot of people want to detox in Janaury and I get it.

You’ve had a highly stressful, busy (the good or bad type of busy) Christmas period and likely overindulged a bit.

So detoxing by cutting everything out feels like the best way to course correct (and lose a bit of weight).

Although in theory, this sounds like a great plan, the reality is that doing this can wreak havoc on your nervous system.

If your nervous system is fried after the festive period and you start to starve your body, you're going to push it further into flight or fight. And I promise you that won’t make you feel any better.

So here’s what I recommend instead:

😌 A gentle reset, I often use a simple Ayurvedic Cleanse with clients.

😌 Using a Kitchari recipe for 2-3 days. It's nourishing and calming to the digestive system. Goal is not to feel hungry, the goal is to feel nourished.

😌 3 meals a day, no snacks - this helps reset the snack habit you've likely built up over the Christmas period.

😌 Focus on incorporating gentle, grounding movement like walking and yoga.

Not only will this help calm and rest your nervous system, but you’ll likely lose those few additional pounds too but without the feeling of heavy restriction.

All you need is a few minutes and the right techniques! ✨

Each of these techniques offers an easy way to move your body out of fight or flight mode!

I use different tools on different days, depending on how much time I have and how I’m feeling.

I trust I know when to use them because I know what feels right for my body- this comes with practice and trying out different techniques, so feel free to experiment to find what works best for you!

If your health feels anything but simple, here’s why ⬇️

You’re overthinking it!

But that’s not your fault.

It’s hard not to listen to every piece of advice you come across online when it comes to your health. It’s like information overload!

It can also be tricky to determine what’s genuine, what will help and if it’s relevant to you.

But it doesn’t have to be that complicated.

Good health is actually pretty simple.

Truthfully, most people already know what good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle look like.

It’s just hard to do in this modern world.

That’s what I’m here for!✨

Helping you to keep things simple and effective.

Even when you’re busy, confused or feel like nothing will work.

We figure it out together!

How to slow down with the season 🍂

During the autumn months, our bodies naturally want to slow down and go with the new rhythm of the shorter days.

Allowing your body to do this, even in little ways, can help you feel more regulated and relaxed- making your health goals easier to hit!

One of the best ways to match the natural cycle of the season is to look at your food.

🍲 Switching to seasonal foods that feel warm and nourishing
🥗Swap salads for soups
🍎Have porridge instead of smoothies
🍠 Eat more root veggies like beetroot, parsnips, sweet potatoes and butternut squash
🥬 Eat seasonal leafy greens like cabbage and kale

You will always benefit from listening to your body.

You’re likely already craving these types of food, and there's a reason why: Listen when your body speaks to you.

It’s simple things like this that can help us counteract the chaos of modern-day life.

Finding it hard to figure out what your body needs? DM me ‘LISTEN’ and let’s chat about how we can help you reach your health goals this autumn 🍁

But here’s what is⬇️

Don’t get me wrong, a nice bubble bath or a relaxing day at the spa is great, but that alone won't calm your nervous system.

Especially if you’ve spent the whole week pushing yourself to the limit with work, family and exercise.

What you need to do is make your body feel safe.

It's a basic and primal concept that works every time.

But it requires consistency and repetition👀

Your body requires subtle signals on a daily basis to feel safe.

This includes things like consistently eating 3 meals a day and having a regular morning routine.

And before you panic and think that you don’t have time for a morning routine, I’m talking about implementing 5 minutes of deep breathing or yoga.

It’s not about overcommitting- that’ll ultimately cause more stress.

It's about the simple things:

😌 Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day
😌 Eat 3 meals at the same time each day
😌 Take 2-minute deep breath breaks throughout the day

Rhythm and consistency are the key.

Not monthly spa trips and bubble baths.

Make sure you’re following for more helpful advice (that’s rooted in science) on regulating your nervous system and restoring your health 🤍

This could be the hidden cause of your food sensitivities 👇

You’ve tried everything…
❌ Cutting out foods
💊 Stacking supplements
🥒 Detox after detox

And yet the symptoms keep coming back.

Here’s why ⤵️
When your nervous system is dysregulated, your body doesn’t just react to food. It becomes hypersensitive to almost everything:
✨ Chemicals or fragrances in your environment
✨ Certain foods (even “healthy” ones)
✨ Emotional stress
✨ Lifestyle triggers like overexercising or coffee on an empty stomach

This is because a body stuck in fight-or-flight is primed for survival, not digestion and repair. Your immune system stays on high alert, your gut lining becomes more reactive, and inflammation can rise.

Until you teach your nervous system it’s safe, the cycle won’t break—no matter how clean your diet is or how many supplements you take.

This is especially true if you’re dealing with complex conditions like long COVID, MCAS, or chronic fatigue.

So what can you do?
💭 Start by asking: Where does my stress load really come from?
– Certain relationships?
– How you structure your day?
– Hidden habits that keep your body wired instead of calm?

The way forward isn’t just elimination. It’s regulation—through somatic movement, time in nature, restorative nutrition, and gentle breathwork. 🌱
