I was 30 weeks pregnant and living in the same three pairs of leggings and my partner’s oversized tees 😩🤰

At 32 weeks I am finally sharing that our first baby is a…

Girl! 💓🌸👙🎀👛

We have known since 10 weeks (after a private NIPT) and I have had little self control over buying all the cute, pink, frilly and floral things 😍

It’s been so lovely keeping the gender to ourselves (and close family and friends) for the last few months. Planning for the birth, imagining what she will look like, be like and fit so perfectly into our lives.

This is truly the most magical time of my life and I know that it’ll only get better and better once she arrives.

My partner has been so amazing and we are closer than ever in the lead up to becoming a family of three 🫶🏻 he very kindly offered to start washing the baby clothes and ironing but I politely declined in fear of him seeing just how much I have bought so far (this is only showing about 5% of what I’ve collected).

I CANNOT WAIT to be a girl mum!

Tell me, did you find out the gender of your first baby or keep it a surprise?

1. The .uk pregnancy band has helped relieve the pressure of Pelvic Girdle Pain on super active days. This with regular osteo has made it all the more manageable!
2. maternity pyjamas are unmatched for quality and comfort. I tried different brands + also sized up in regular primark ones but they don’t even come close to how good these feel on. I’ve bought them in three different styles now and won’t wear anything else at night.
3. tan is unreal! Amazing colour and smell + it’s long lasting (I’m getting a good five days before it starts to fade and it fades well) so nice that it is pregnancy and breastfeeding safe and even after I’m done with those things I won’t be going back to Bondi sands… which is saying something as I’ve been using it for 20 years.
4. smoothie was about all I could manage (and helped me get my prenatals down too) when I was really sick with hyperemesis gravidarum. If I could manage one thing it would be two scoops of this with protein powder, cows milk, a banana, peanut butter and cinnamon. It really made me feel less guilty about not eating a varied + nutritious diet in the first trimester and my partner still makes this for us every morning!
5. puff pregnancy pillow was the first thing I bought! At around five weeks pregnant 🙈 every night I have this supporting my back (to stop me from rolling in my sleep) and I wedged between my knees. It doesn’t lose its shape or decompress overnight so I wake up feeling so good! I have PGP but no back pain yet at 30 weeks 🤞🏻
6. The Starlight Dress from is the most perfect dress (that’s not a maternity dress) for pregnancy. It makes me feel so much like myself and comes in over 30 styles and length… I now have four 🙈 and I love that the design includes a full button front so I’ll be wearing this when breastfeeding for sure.
7. I tried so many maternity leggings and they were either a weird cut or way too long for my 5’2 frame but has been a game changer! I love my chocolate brown pair with brown biker boots so I don’t just revert to leggings and oversized sweaters but can feel dressed up too 💃

A first trimester roundup -

1. the first positive test 🥹 the day after a missed period. I wouldn’t usually worry about being a couple of days late but I had zero PMS symptoms so decided to test. Still a total shock!
2. the day after I found out I was off on a girls trip to Marbella for 4 days ☀️
3. Tested every second day on the trip and luckily had .ova.co supplements to take with me last minute
4. Started off my pregnancy with so many good intentions regarding food and nutrition but then the nausea and vomiting took hold…
5. Week 6 and I was vomiting constantly. Lived off of this new cucumber + mint flavour 🫶🏻
6. Really hit a wall by week 8 - couldn’t leave the house, vomiting out of my nose, stress inconvenience and was just absolute stress and panic.
7. Waking up to vomit in the night. GP appointments were like gold dust. Sad to say now but was regretting pregnancy at this point.
8. Finally diagnosed with and found a medication that worked after literally begging my GP for it (he had never heard of it and asked me if I had tried ginger and rest 😌)
9. Xonvea has been my lifeline. From vomiting 10-20 x a day, unable to function at all to only being sick a couple of times a day but actually being able to eat nutritious meals again. Although still nauseous 90% of the day…
10. My beige diet ans multiple meds to get through. It was so rough from week 7-13. I could cry just thinking about it now.
11. Eating regularly and keeping on top of meds 💪🏻 even an hour late for something and I was throwing up.
12. Baby at a private NIPT scan at 13 weeks 🥹 couldn’t be more perfect! Big thank you to Rachel .ultrasound for all of the reassurance
13. Being a passenger princess was my kryptonite 🤢
14. Started to feel more and more like myself around week 13/14
15. Announced pregnancy finally after having the energy to get my head around it - celebrated in london with my partner 💓
16. Had a treat night away with spa and champagne high tea
17. Still vomiting every eve at 14 weeks but at least I can do it semi subtle in a restaurant 🙈

How much sleep will you have?

It’s hard to say for sure as every baby is different (even between families).

Here I share my best advice for managing the sleep lows and exhaustion.

For tangible tips that you can implement with your newborn you can download my FREE GUIDE - ‘Encouraging Newborn Sleep’ which is linked in my bio.

How did you feel about sleep in the early weeks? Or if you are pregnant now let me know in the comments what you are most worried about 🫶🏻

If you have worked with me before (or have downloaded one of my best selling masterclasses) then I would LOVE for you to share your experience here in the comments for others to see what they’re missing out on 😄

1. My instant download masterclasses are selling on the daily and that’s because it is the easiest way to soak up my expert advice for the age/stage that your baby is now. Breaking them up into 4-6, 6-9, 9-12 & 12-18 month categories means that I can offer super specific guidance (unlike many other baby courses out there).

I also have masterclasses for:
✨ Gently Transitioning from Breastfeeding to Sleep ( #1 Bestseller)
✨ Worry Free Weaning
✨ Introducing a Bottle

These are all instant download from my website (link in bio) for £27

2. Virtual Guidance

The way to work with me 1:1 so that I can give specific guidance for you and your family based off of what you are struggling with right now.

Whether it’s a baby who refuses a bottle or cot naps. For if you’re returning to work, stopping breastfeeding or transitioning from co sleeping… whatever it is, we’ve got it together 💕

3. And finally my In Person Intensive Package which includes a day home visit so we can really get to the bottom of whatever challenges you’re facing (or you can take a nap 😉). You’ll have the benefit of having a fully trained Maternity Nurse in your home + one in your back pocket for the month following. It’s a no brainer.

So what are you waiting for? Download a masterclass from today and in the future I will deduct the cost from a 1:1 package if you are needing more specific support.

DM me anytime with questions or find all links on my website www.milliepoppins.com

I would put ‘baby crying in car’ in the top most stressful situations you can be in 🚗 especially when there is no option for stopping or you have a long journey ahead of you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often the reason for them being upset comes down to one of three things - hungry, windy or too hot/cold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No matter what the reason please never take your child out of their car seat whilst the car is moving or even if you have stopped at a light or in standstill traffic. It is not worth the risk, ever. Find somewhere safe to pull over before unstrapping them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ensuring that your baby is fed and winded/burped around 20 - 60 minutes before a car journey can really help too, especially for babies four months and under.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can also check your baby’s temperature by holding your hand to the back of their neck - a baby should never be sweaty.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often parents think that their baby *hates* the car seat when in reality there is something else going on for them that is exacerbated by being in the actual car seat. Working this out (whether it’s wind, reflux, too hot/cold, wrong position) can really help to make car journeys easier for everyone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope these tips have helped!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From one Baby Care Expert who has lost count of the amount of long, fractious car trips with young babies 🫡

Sterilising all of the baby's feeding equipment (including pumping parts) can be very important in their first year. All of the methods above still require you to thoroughly clean the parts beforehand with soapy water (this helps to remove any milk residue).

You can use the dishwasher but please bear in mind that not all dishwashing tablets/liquids are safe for babies and that the dishwasher isn’t a sterilsiation method. Dishwashers also damage bottles and teats alot faster than handwashing - and split/cracked parts are more likely to trap germs 🦠

Washing and sterilsing ensures that all germs, viruses and bacteria are eliminated and that your baby is not at risk of ingesting anything that could make them sick.

The first year is when they are most vulnerable and yes, they may be crawling at some point and licking the floor, the dog, the trolley at Sainsburys BUT bacteria particularly likes to grow in warm, wet environments. And the nooks and crannies of small feeding equipment parts are particularly susceptible.

Do you have a question about sterilising? Pop it here and I will get back to you 🍼
