Surprise Surprise 🙃

Here's the moment we broke the news to Michelle Phillpot of Sutton Health and Care that she has been shortlisted in the gesh CARE Awards 🏆

Michelle is a finalist for a Better Value Award as she pioneered a project which makes nutrition prescribing safer, more sustainable, and cost-effective as it saves thousands of pounds while improving patient outcomes and reducing waste.

The gesh CARE Awards is a ‘thank you’ to health heroes at St George's, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals who make a real difference to patients and colleagues ✨

Award-winning TV presenter Elle Osili-Wood will host the event on 9 December which is generously sponsored by our hospital charities and local businesses.

📢 Flu cases are on the rise – particularly in children.

Flu can be very dangerous for children and can cause serious health complications, such as pneumonia.

By getting your child vaccinated with the nasal spray, you can help keep your family flu-free.

Parents and carers can sign and return consent forms to their child’s school, or find a local catch-up community clinic if they've missed their school session.

For the first time ever, parents can drop-in at their local pharmacy to get two and three-year-olds vaccinated, or can book online at www.nhs.uk/bookflu.

💬 “Flu spreads fast — one shift, one sneeze, one missed jab is all it takes!”

Asif Mushtaq, Emergency Department Consultant at Epsom Hospital, is urging everyone to get their flu vaccine this winter.

“I get the flu jab every year. I work in a busy Emergency Department where every second counts. We see some of the sickest and most vulnerable patients, and the last thing they need is flu on top of everything else.

“Flu spreads fast—one shift, one sneeze, one missed jab is all it takes. Getting vaccinated is a simple but powerful way to stop flu at the door.

“Let’s protect our patients and keep our teams strong.” 💪💙

⚠️ On Thursday, there is a planned chemical incident exercise taking place at St Helier Hospital.

Visitors and patients may see decontamination tents and staff wearing protective equipment, as pictured. Please don’t be alarmed – this is not a real emergency.

Our services will continue as normal, and there is no risk to you or the public. In fact - these exercises help us identify any improvements we can make in the event of a real emergency.
