TATTOO REMOVAL WITH PICOSURE PRO LASER

We’ve been talking a lot about our new PicoSure Pro laser lately, especially how brilliant it is for treating pigmentation, particularly in darker skin types. But it’s also incredibly effective for tattoo removal.

Claire has started removing her eyebrow tattoos, and after just one session we were both surprised at how much pigment lifted. It’s always difficult when patients are told they’ll need 6–10 sessions without really knowing what to expect. The truth is, it’s about the settings and the skill of the practitioner. In my clinic, we understand our devices inside out, we don’t under-treat and we certainly don’t over-treat.

When the pigment, tattoo, or vessel is gone, we stop. It’s as simple as that. For many cases, it’s often just 2–3 treatments.

If you’re considering pigmentation or tattoo removal, we’d love to see you in clinic.

IN THE PRESS

Delighted to be featured in sharing my perspective on treating crepey skin.

The right combination of medical-grade skincare and in-clinic treatments can make significant improvements in skin quality.

Treatments such as polynucleotides help restore hydration and improve dermal structure from within. Laser therapies are another key option, Fraxel Dual has been shown to reverse sun-induced ageing at a cellular level, stimulating collagen remodelling, while Clear + Brilliant offers a gentler, low-downtime alternative that can be combined with medical-grade hydrafacials. Radiofrequency treatments like Thermage FLX also help tighten and lift, giving the skin a firmer, more youthful appearance over time.

Thank you to Vogue for including my insights, It’s a privilege to provide evidence led guidance that truly enhances skin structure and radiance.

CLEARER, BRIGHTER MORE CONFIDENT SKIN.

Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, is one of our most popular in-clinic treatments, particularly effective for facial redness and sunspots.

Claire initially felt her pigmentation was “just freckles” but on examination she had significant underlying sun damage. Following her IPL treatment, the pigmentation temporarily darkened, as expected, before gently flaking away over 7–10 days, revealing clearer, more even-toned skin. Claire’s redness was also visibly reduced, and the overall improvement in skin clarity gave her the confidence to wear no foundation, all after just one treatment.

IPL is a safe, effective procedure that takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish. Mild redness can occur afterwards, and pigmented areas may darken before naturally shedding. Consistent sun protection is essential post-treatment

If you are concerned about redness or sun damage, this could be your sign to explore IPL.

LET’S TALK ABOUT DARK CIRCLES

Under-eye dark circles are rarely caused by a single factor. Genetics can play a major role, while sun exposure may deepen pigmentation. Ageing also contributes, with collagen loss, thinning skin, and increased hollowing making the area appear darker.

Every patient requires a tailored approach. For my patient Priya, I prescribed medical-grade eye serums to target pigmentation and improve skin quality, followed by a course of polynucleotides, 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

Polynucleotides hydrate, refine skin tone and texture, reduce pigmentation, and act as a bio-stimulator, supporting cellular repair rather than simply filling. This approach delivers subtle, natural, and long-lasting rejuvenation.

True rejuvenation should be subtle, balanced, and beautifully undetectable and reflect true skin health.

LET’S TALK ABOUT PIGMENTATION

As a consultant dermatologist, I treat pigmentation every day, but not all pigmentation is the same, which is why every treatment must be personalised.

We offer several effective options, including chemical peels and lasers, but PicoSure Pro laser is great because it delivers excellent results, especially for darker skin tones, with more tolerable downtime.

That said, laser is only part of the journey. A solid at home skincare routine and SPF are essential for lasting results.

For my patient Nimrita, I prescribed my personalised Hyperpigmentation Day and Night Serums. Each of my serum formulations are fully bespoke, tailored to the patient’s specific needs.

These serums are so effective that most patients only need one or two prescriptions to maintain results, alongside daily SPF, always!

Thank you to my patient, for sharing her skin journey so openly.

When Shavata first came to see me, she was struggling with melasma and hereditary dermatosis paposa nigra facial lesions that were affecting her confidence.

We began by completely simplifying her routine, removing the expensive “luxury” skincare products and replacing them with evidence based essentials, gentle cleansers, moisturiser and daily SPF. The only true investment was in my bespoke prescription day and night serums for her hyperpigmentation.

We then carefully cauterised her lesions and followed with a deep chemical peel to restore clarity and overall skin health.

Three years later, her skin remains clear. She now returns periodically for maintenance and the occasional prescription top up, no ongoing dependency, no unnecessary products.

Shavata, thank you for trusting me with your skin and allowing me to be part of your journey.

Precision Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

Meet my lovely patient Nimrita. This was her very first injectable treatment, and we focused on anti-wrinkle injections with a soft, natural result in mind.

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing overactive muscles, helping to smooth lines while keeping your expressions looking like you. That’s why understanding facial anatomy is so important, no two faces are the same. Muscle position and activity vary from person to person depending on movement and expression.

For precision, I use the JuvaPen, a motorised syringe that allows for highly accurate dosing and a smoother, more controlled treatment. This helps reduce discomfort, bruising, and marks, while delivering natural results, often with no review or top-up needed.

The hair nerd in me finds this photo fascinating. It really highlights the damage that chemicals, including colouring, can do to our hair.

The growth down to my ears has been coloured with henna-based dyes. I’d noticed that many of my hair patients who were visiting a particular hairdresser and using these more natural dyes were reporting much healthier hair. Further conversations with clarified that it’s now possible to get PPD-free henna, which I tried for my most recent root touch-up and loved.

As a dermatologist, I’ve always been cautious about PPD-containing dyes due to the severe allergic reactions they can cause. Traditionally, many henna-based dyes contained PPD, so it’s great to now have good-quality, genuinely PPD-free options available.

From the ears down, my hair had previously been coloured using a semi-permanent dye (Inoa), which I’d been told was gentler. Since switching to the henna-based dye, the new growth is noticeably thicker and shinier which is clearly visible in this photo.

This has also made me reflect on our Western culture of frequent blow-dries and colouring. Among older, affluent Western women who regularly have professional colour and blow-dries, I often notice significant hair thinning. On examination, this is frequently not classic androgenetic alopecia or female pattern hair loss, but rather extensive hair shaft damage which is challenging to reverse, especially when these patients have invested heavily in “the best” hair care over many years.

In contrast, in places like India where henna-based dyes are more commonly used many older women have remarkably thick hair.

Could it be that these ancient practices of henna-based hair dyeing were actually better for hair health? I’m not a hairdresser, so I’d genuinely love to hear others’ views and experiences.

And to be clear this is not an ad. I’m genuinely trying to understand which colouring options are best for my patients… and for myself.
