Have you ever stood in front of a fragrance and wondered what the difference between an Eau de Parfum and an Eau de Toilette actually is? You're not alone. It's one of the questions I'm asked most often, and it's a really good one.

The short answer: it's all about concentration, the percentage of aromatic oils in the bottle. But the longer answer is much more interesting, because that percentage changes not just how strong a fragrance is, but how it moves, how it develops on your skin, and how long it stays with you.

Swipe through for my perfumer's guide to the four main concentrations, and let me know in the comments which is your favourite to wear.

That iconic black door. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿✨

On 23rd February I was invited to 10 Downing Street for the St David's Day Reception, celebrating Welsh creativity, entrepreneurship, and craftsmanship.

As the founder of Wales' first independent fine fragrance house, sharing the Natur and Celts collections inside Number 10 was something I could never have imagined when I started this journey.

Sir Keir Starmer was wonderfully warm, and I'm happy to report that Welsh perfumery went down rather well at the highest level.

Still pinching myself. 🖤

What a February it has been. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿✨
It still doesn't feel quite real to say it, but this month I was invited to 10 Downing Street for the St David's Day Reception. Walking through that iconic black door as the founder of Wales' first independent fine fragrance house was one of the most extraordinary moments of my life. Sir Keir Starmer, whose grandmother was Welsh, was wonderfully encouraging about our Natur and Celts collections. I'm still pinching myself. That second pic? The last time I was at Downing Street in 1982, photographed by my late grandmother, Louisa.

To celebrate our Downing Street visit, I'm sharing a little treat with you: use code NUMBER10 for 10% off perfumes and home fragrance. Shop on the website, valid just until Wednesday 4th March - so be quick!

And that wasn't all. Swipe through for a little look at everything else February brought with it for Wales Perfumery:
🌸Spring Fair at the NEC
🌸a beautiful private workshop here at the lab
(read more about both of these on our blog)
🌸the relaunch of our home fragrance collection in its gorgeous new look
(available now to buy on our website - don't forget your NUMBER10 treat)
🌸and a few signs that Spring is well on the way at our Secret Walled Garden, and while we've been out visiting our retailers

When two people create fragrance together, it's never the same journey twice.

This couple came to the studio with different goals, different instincts, and completely different routes through the materials. What they left with were two entirely personal fragrances that couldn't be found anywhere else.

No templates. No presets. Just raw materials, professional guidance, and the space to follow your nose.

If you've been curious about what working with a perfumer actually looks like, my Spring Perfume-Making Class is now open for bookings. Small groups, proper attention, and the chance to create something truly yours.

Meet our retailers

I've had lots of you ask recently about where you can buy our fragrances in person. So I thought I'd start a little series of posts featuring our lovely retailers in Wales, and beyond. Let's start close to home though....

Meet Jenny, the face behind a gorgeous gift shop and gallery right here in our hometown of Monmouth. It feels extra special to feature Jenny first, as just three months ago the shop was devastated by the awful flooding that affected Monmouth and the surrounding area. It's so good to see that she has bounced back so quickly, down to bucketloads of determination and of course the wonderful support of the local community.

Alongside a plethora of goodies created by other local, independent artisans, Jenny stocks both our Natur and Celt collections, as well as hair & body mists, and our home fragrance products. You'll find her on Monmouth High Street (opposite Waitrose!). Do pop in and say hello sometime.

Do you have or do you know of a fabulous independent gift shop, gallery, or boutique that you'd love to see our fragrances in? Get in touch, we'd love to talk.

Vetiver
One of the most interesting materials to work with in the lab 🌿✨ Vetiver holds such a special place in my perfumer's palette. That beautiful balance of earthy richness with subtle green freshness and just a hint of smokiness that adds character and complexity to a fragrance 🌱

I've always been fascinated by how the place of origin completely transforms its character. Haitian vetiver has nut, caramel, undergrowth, wicker notes, while Javanese vetiver has woodier, smokier, more leathery notes. It's the same plant, but two completely different scent profiles 🤎

What makes vetiver truly indispensable in perfumery is its versatility. It's the perfect bridge between rhubarby green notes and warm earthy woody bases, which is why you'll find it in so many classic compositions. For me, it's essential in creating that backbone, the foundation that grounds a fragrance without dominating.🌱

You might recognise that earthy, grounding aroma from your yoga studio or spa, but in fine fragrance, it brings so much more. That calming, centering quality. That's why I've featured it in Country, Silures, and the Citrus home fragrance range, adding that subtle earthiness that lingers beautifully on the skin. ✨

February.
It's been raining here in the UK for what feels like forever, and I'm getting that restless feeling. I'm desperate to get out walking, to breathe fresh air, to feel grass (not just icky mud!) underfoot again.

Country is inspired by rolling hills, rivers and streams, and fields of freshly cut grass. My grandmother's favourite fragrance was gardenia, so there's a nod to her in this scent as well. It's very clean and vibrant, capturing the essence of the outdoors and rural life. It opens with petitgrain, neroli, and fig leaf, while narcissus, water and cut grass form its heart. The base is grounded by soft woods and vetiver.

So until the rain stops, this is my little moment of countryside. 🌿

How many sprays are in my perfume bottle?" - honestly one of my favourite questions! 🤍

Let me break it down for you:
from the dinky 2ml sample in our discovery sets (20-25 sprays) right up to luxurious 50ml bottles (500-650 sprays - your signature scent sorted for over a year!).

But the best thing with quality niche perfumes is that a little truly goes a long way. The concentration and carefully selected ingredients mean 2-3 sprays is all you need. I promise, you don't need to drench yourself to make an impact!
