Olfactory archaeology.

Each fragrance in The Celts Collection begins with a tribe. A real people, a real place, a real history. The fragrances are not reconstructions. They are emotional translations. What those worlds might have felt like, told through the materials I work with every day.

Celt is rooted in Brittany, where Celtic culture first took hold.
Cornovii follows the ancient trading routes of Cornwall to the Mediterranean.
Iverni lands on the cold shores of early Ireland.
Silures walks with the fierce Welsh tribe who held their ground against Rome.
Votadini stands on the hillforts of Edinburgh, wine goblet in hand.
Five tribes. Five stories. One collection.

Available as individual fragrances or as a discovery set if you want to find your starting point.

Most people never see this part.

Before a fragrance is finished, every material needs to be fully integrated - the essential oils, the resins, the powders, all blended into something smooth and consistent.

This is how I do it. A magnetic stirrer creates a rotating field inside the liquid, turning a small bar that keeps everything moving until the blend is completely even. Depending on the materials, it can run for hours.

It is one of those rarely seen in public, unglamorous parts of the process that makes all the difference to the finished fragrance.

๐ŸŒน 170 rose flowers to make 1ml of oil.

Rose absolute is one of the most labour-intensive materials in perfumery. Hand-picked, usually at dawn before the heat of the day changes the scent, and processed immediately. The yield is tiny. Which is why, when you smell it in a fragrance, there is a quality to it that nothing synthetic quite replicates.

Floral, yes. But also green, and citrus, and something almost honeyed underneath. It is one of those materials that reveals itself slowly.

Rose centifloer appears in Iverni, one of The Celts Collection. And a different type of rose may be appearing somewhere else before too long.

More on that when I am ready - make sure you're signed up to my email list if you want to be first to know.

Every fragrance starts like this.
A strip. A material. A moment to sit with it before deciding anything.

There are no shortcuts in this part of the process. You test, you wait, you go back. You try a different balance, leave it overnight, smell it again in the morning when your nose is fresh. Some combinations reveal themselves quickly. Others take weeks.

What you never do is rush the decision. A fragrance that is not ready yet will tell you, if you are willing to listen.

If you have ever felt like your fragrance disappears within a few hours, this is worth trying.

Fragrance layering is something I do often, and the difference it makes to how long a scent lasts, and how it moves with you, is significant.

The technique is straightforward.
1. Start with the Eau de Parfum on your pulse points: wrists, inner elbows, neck, behind the ears. These warm areas of the skin help the fragrance bloom and develop through the day.
2. Then follow with the matching hair and body mist, spritzed through your hair and lightly over your clothes. Fragrance clings beautifully to hair fibres and fabric, which is where a lot of the sillage (the trail a fragrance leaves) actually comes from.

Two products. One scent. Worn properly, it lasts.

Each of my Natur layering sets pairs a 30ml Eau de Parfum with its matching hair and body mist. Coast, Country, Forest, and Star, all ยฃ75, all available now.

Something I get asked about: the alcohol base in a fine fragrance.
I use an organic grade alcohol in everything I make - all the fragrances, and all the materials used in workshops too.

It is a byproduct of the UK wheat industry, which means it sits within the circular economy rather than outside it.

I also hold an HMRC licence to keep it on the premises, which is one of those details of running a perfumery that most people never think about.

It matters to me that the base of every fragrance is as considered as the materials that go into it.

New stories, new chapters, new scents.

Every iteration of a formula in development gets a number. Some make it through. Some don't.

Neroli. Citrus aurantium var. amara.

It is steam-distilled from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Not the leaves, not the peel, just the flower. The harvest window is brief, the work is entirely by hand, and it takes an enormous quantity of blossoms to produce even a small amount of oil. Which is why, when you smell it, it feels like it should cost what it costs.

To my nose it is sweet and floral with a beautiful green quality underneath, almost like the stem of a freshly cut white flower. It opens bright and sparkling, then settles into something richer and more complex. Fresh and warm at the same time, which is a very rare thing in perfumery.

Swipe through for my full Perfumer's Notebook notes on neroli. The complete post is on my blog.

This is from one of our workshop guests, and it is one of my favourite things anyone has ever said about the work.

Twenty years with the same fragrance. That kind of loyalty is not stubbornness - it is knowing exactly what you love and not wanting to lose it. I understand that completely.

What happens in a bespoke session is that we take that knowledge, what you already know about yourself and what you are drawn to, and use it as a starting point. You are not starting from scratch. You are going deeper into something you already understand.

The result is a fragrance that is entirely yours, with a formula kept on file so it can be made again whenever you need it. No discontinuation. No compromise.

If you have been wearing the same scent for years and wondered whether anything could ever come close, this might be the answer.
