Magnesium L-Threonate (MLT) has been gaining popularity in recent years as a supplement that can improve sleep quality. Many studies have been conducted to investigate this connection, and the results have been promising. In this article, we will explore the relationship between magnesium L-threonate and sleep, highlighting the relevant research and evidence-based findings.

Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays an important role in various bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, blood pressure regulation, and bone health. It is also known to promote relaxation and stress relief. One of the ways magnesium affects sleep is by regulating the activity of the neurotransmitter GABA, which is involved in calming the central nervous system and promoting sleepiness.

L-threonate is a form of magnesium that has been specially formulated to increase its absorption and bioavailability. It has been demonstrated to be effective in crossing the blood-brain barrier, where it can exert its cognitive and neurological benefits. Studies have shown that MLT supplementation can enhance memory, alleviate depression and anxiety, and improve sleep.

A study published in the Journal of Sleep Research investigated the effects of six weeks of magnesium L-threonate supplementation on sleep quality and cognitive function in elderly individuals.
