I smile a lot when I teach. P.S.

We move with music to connect, cardio to smile, and hold one leg up in the air for 15 seconds at a time to find our centres*.

*That's 'deng jiao' in Tai Chi. I use movements to motivate and encourage participants to find their own level of challenge and really go for it. I love it when strangers gather together and move as a group. Level 2 Exercise to Music/Group Fitness Qualification as of Nov 2021! :D

Hey peeps, tomorrow (3 Feb Friday) look rainy, so the only place I can think of doing it is the sheltered bit next to the moat. So probably just for a handful of us, let me know if you are up for it? The first 3 people to post below are in! 12.30-1pm

P.S. I'll check the weather forecast again in the morning, if it predicts dry by noon then everyone can join :D

Some of you may have heard me asking you to 'keep your core engaged'. Below are a few tips on how to do that...

Neutral spine means your spine is not over-flexed or over-arched

Try tilting pelvis forward, then backward, somewhere in the middle of the two extreme should be the ‘neutral spine’

Maintain the neutral position whilst drawing your belly button towards your spine. Keep a 20% effort (tightening it 100% will tire out your muscles and be counter-productive).

Try to retain this 20% engagement throughout the day to help your body’s performance in daily activities (as well as during exercises).

It's likely that you'll forget loads of times - keep going until it becomes a habit!

First post to a new page! Sharing my favourite move from my instructor qualification assessment routine: https://youtu.be/xK_M2LOs9wU

I like it because this move can be adapted to suit all levels (by simply varying the level of the kick or removing it altogether) and over time & practice allow participants to build up their balance, strength and flexibility, all rolled into one exercise.

Let's keep healthy in this tricky winter!

P.S. Yes yes I know, I have a long to-do list for the page - branding, biogarphies, testimonials, and all the basics - and yeah I haven't found a suitable super-ventilated venue yet....one step at a time!
