Hello from ADAPT Diabetes and our new instagram page! We’ll be sharing more about ourselves and our diabetes program which is particularly focused to the BAME communities in UK, Europe, Canada, US. We have been running this project for over 16 years, continually updating it with the latest research and lifestyle medicine.
Meet Dr Natasha H Patel! Natasha Is a diabetes consultant with over 15 years experience of treating complex diabetes patients. Having seen first hand the impact of diabetes within her community and family, she is keen to be able to explain the simple changes that an individual and family can make to their lifestyle to reduce their individual risk of developing diabetes and its associated complications.
Natasha initially became a consultant at St Georges in 2008 and moved to Guys and St Thomas in London in 2015. She was the Clinical Director for diabetes for the South London AHSN between 2013-2016. Natasha is the medical director of our program.
She is a firm believer that by ensuring that we have good quality sleep, eat nutritious meals, move regularly and look after our mental and emotional health will help those with diabetes to control their blood sugar levels.
She’s also completed an MBA as she felt it was very easy to criticise the management and leadership of the NHS, yet wanted to contribute to improving the leadership. She loves supporting health care start ups and is involved with lots of other projects like ADAPT Diabetes.
In her very little spare time she enjoys yoga, meditation, walking and running around after her toddler!
