Self-assessing your dental health can help you identify potential issues early and take preventive measures. Here are some simple methods to check the health of your teeth and gums:
1. Tooth Colour and Surface
Observe whether your teeth show any noticeable discolouration, stains, or yellow deposits.
Are your teeth smooth, without cracks or damage?
Do you notice any signs of wear, especially on the biting surfaces of your teeth?
2. Gum Health
Check if your gums are healthy, which should be a pink colour.
Are your gums swollen or bleeding, particularly when brushing your teeth?
Do your gums appear to be receding? This could be an early sign of gum disease.
3. Bad Breath
Do you experience persistent bad breath or an unpleasant taste in your mouth? This could be a sign of plaque buildup or gum infection.
4. Tooth Sensitivity
Do your teeth become sensitive to hot or cold food and drinks, especially when consuming acidic or sugary items?
