Did you know that Dissociation is a powerful protective mechanism, part of our internal process and its function is to keep us safe in the face of overwhelming stress or trauma.
If as children we have to use this mechanism often it can become a habitual go to response and result in things such as chronic rumination, anxiety, feeling disconnected or numb and we can really struggle in our adult lives as a result.
Luckily we are able to change the default internal processes and habitual survival responses that we experience and we can do so through learning and experiencing safety in connection and healing our relationship with ourSELF.
