✨ Today we held a Parent Workshop on visuals for support, where we explored different ways to use visuals to encourage communication at home.

It was wonderful to see parents getting hands-on and even creating their own resources like Now and Next boards!

October is AAC Awareness Month! 💬
AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) includes any method that helps someone communicate if they find speaking difficult, such as signs, symbols, pictures, gestures, or communication devices.

Within our Speech and Language Therapy school service, we work closely with children, school staff, and families to:
• Identify the most effective communication method for each child
• Support children to use AAC in everyday routines and classroom activities
• Provide training and guidance to teachers and support staff
• Ensure AAC is used consistently across school and home to help children develop confidence in communicating

AAC gives children the opportunity to express their needs, share their ideas, and be heard because every child deserves a way to communicate.
