Nasal breathing can boost oxygen levels by 20% at any given time.
Breathing through the nose increases airway resistance. Because the nose is smaller than the mouth, it slows down the breathing rate and, in turn, allows the air to be warmed, filtered and moisturised within the nasal cavity, allowing for better gas exchange in the lungs.
When air flows through the nose, we create nitric oxide gas. Nitric oxide opens up and dilates the blood vessels within the lungs, improving blood flow and oxygenation.
