Sometimes the most simple advice can make the biggest change.

Adequate hydration is important for our skin, but also for our gut health and detoxification system.

Our skin creates a ‘waterproof’ layer to prevent water loss, so the most effective way to have hydrated skin is from within!

We all know that we need to drink enough water, however, how many of us actually drink 2l per day?

I find it quite difficult to remember to drink water as I rarely feel thirsty.

But those are a few tips that worked for me:

* adding an additional cup of water to your smoothie
* adding frozen berries to your glass of water (it gives it a fruity flavour and cools down the water!)
* snacking on foods that contain a lot of water, e.g. cucumber or watermelon

Fermented foods contain ‘good’ bugs called probiotics.

They support our gut microbiome and improve digestion.

As we now know – a happy gut equals happy skin.

Those type of foods has been known for centuries in different cultures.

People intuitively knew they are good for their health.

There are also quite easy to prepare at home, although the probiotic content may vary.

The Gut-Brain-Skin axis also called Gut-Mind-Skin axis shows us how everything in our body is beautifully connected.

We know that our mind (and stress levels) can influence our gut health, but it can also influence our skin. Our nervous system is closely linked to our skin, for example by nerves endings that are present in the skin.

When we are embarrassed we blush.

When we are scared we have ‘goose bumps’.

When we think negative thoughts we disrupt our immune system which is also linked to skin health!

It is not difficult to feel angry, hopeless, disappointed in yourself when you don’t like who you see in the mirror!

MIND and SKIN are closely liked, so next time when you notice negative thoughts, try to remember about SELF-COMPASSION which will benefit not only your mind but also your skin!

Bone broth can be a wonderful add-on to your diet if glowing skin is your goal!
It has wonderful properties which nourish your skin and your soul!

In many cultures, bone broth is used to accelerate healing. As a child, I remember my grandma preparing a delicious bowl of broth when I was not feeling well!

Due to the beneficial amino acids content, such as glycine, it helps your skin, gut, joints and even immune system.

It is rich in minerals which are also important for your skin.

And in addition, it adds to your daily dose of skin hydration from within!

You can make it even more delicious and skin health-boosting by adding herbs such as rosemary or thyme.

If you like experimenting, try adding some turmeric or ginger to enjoy their anti-inflammatory properties.

What kind of benefits have you experienced by having bone broth on regular bases? Share in the comments!

If you think about chronic inflammation, you can imagine your body being ‘on fire’! Many health conditions are associated with inflammation or ‘increased heat’ in your body including skin issues such as acne, eczema or psoriasis.

By reducing inflammation we are calming our body, skin and mind.

Eating anti-inflammatory foods such as food rich in omega 3 will give you more radiant skin. Omega 6 fatty acids are the most abundant in our skin, however, omega 3 fatty acids are the anti-inflammatory ones that help to reduce chronic skin inflammation.

Majority of us are consuming much more omega 6 than omega 3 fats.

And to improve it we can:

* introduce foods high in omega 3 such as oily fish (salmon, mackerel, hearing) or flaxseeds 2-3 times a week

* consider a good quality fish oil or omega 3 supplements

You can also test your omega 3 to 6 ratio to personalise your health journey.
