Are you struggling with parenting your teenager?

Need help with communication and setting boundaries?

Want tools and strategies to support them with their mental health problems?

This is a unique, time-limited opportunity to be given priority access to this service!

Founded in 1976, Open Door is a charity providing counselling and psychotherapy services for young people and their parents.

“All I can say is thank you to Open Door for the support you have given not just to my son but also to me and his mum. It has made our family a lot stronger and also has taught us to be more open as parents”

“Open Door has been a lifeline for us in the last months. I feel it has helped me significantly in being a better parent to my daughter and it is the only place I can talk about her”

Open Door has used 23 years of experience helping hundreds of parents and carers and 45 years’ experience helping thousands of young people to develop a unique evidence-based service to help parents and carers better deal with the challenges of parenting teenagers.

We offer 6 weekly sessions with a specially trained and highly experienced professional counsellor dedicated to helping you identify and solve difficulties between you and your teenager. Common issues discussed are: emotional and behavioural problems, school performance, family relationships, drug and alcohol misuse, self-harm and suicidal feeling and other mental health issues.

This service is usually only available to parents in Haringey, but we have been specially funded to open up the service as part of a research study. To take part the young person has to be:

• Between 12-18
• Living with you at least 2 days per week
• Not currently receiving mental health treatment
• Not have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder
