Many people are told 🗣️
“Your sugar is normal, so everything is fine.”
But insulin resistance often shows on the body first, not in routine reports.

What most people don’t realise is that 🤔
👉 Insulin resistance can exist for YEARS
👉 Blood sugar and HbA1c may still look “normal”
👉 But the body often starts showing signals much earlier
Insulin resistance doesn’t suddenly appear as diabetes.

It develops slowly, quietly and often shows up first through skin changes, fat distribution, hormonal symptoms, and fluid retention.

Some visible signs include✅
• Dark, velvety skin on the neck or underarms
• Swollen feet / ankle puffiness
• Adult acne (especially jawline or chin)
• Facial hair growth in women
• Fat mainly around the abdomen (central fat)
• Multiple skin tags on neck or underarms

These signs are commonly linked with insulin resistance a metabolic condition where insulin works less effectively in the body.

✨ Early awareness = early reversal
✨ Nutrition, lifestyle, sleep & stress play a key role

The good news?
With the right nutrition approach, daily movement, sleep quality, stress regulation, and consistency, insulin resistance is often reversible in early stages.

If you’ve been feeling low energy, sleepy, or unmotivated since the weather changed you’re not alone.

Research shows that people with melanin-rich skin (like most Indians) naturally produce less Vitamin D from sunlight.

And in the UK, sunlight drops drastically from October to March, making Vitamin D deficiency very common.

Low vitamin D can lead to:
⬇ Low energy
⬇ Low mood
⬇ Muscle aches
⬇ Reduced immunity

On top of that shorter daylight hours disrupt your circadian rhythm, affecting alertness, motivation, and sleep.

And if you’re vegetarian (like many Indians), low Vitamin B12 can make fatigue even worse.

Simple Steps That Help:
✔️ NHS recommends Vitamin D supplements during winter
✔️ Add B12-rich or fortified foods
✔️ 10-20 min exposure to natural daylight
✔️ Eat warm, nourishing meals (khichdi, dal, sabzi, soups, Indian spices) to support metabolism
✔️ Keep a consistent wake-sleep routine

🌿 You don’t have to drag through winter just small habits can make a massive difference.

If winter fatigue feels worse every year, it may be time to check your Vitamin D and B12 levels.

As a nutritionist, here’s what I want you to remember 👇🏻

Protein is important.
Calories are important.
Macros are important.

But none of them work without one foundation called CONSISTENCY

Your body needs repeated behaviours to improve metabolism, balance hormones, support fat loss, build muscle, regulate appetite and reduce inflammation.

It’s not the perfect diet that transforms you.
It’s the CONSISTENT one.

Focus on showing up daily in small, sustainable ways.

Your body responds to what you do regularly, not occasionally.

If you’re vegetarian and confused about Omega-3, go for algae-based DHA + EPA.
Simple, clean, plant-based.

21/11/2025

If you’re low in B12, it’s not your fault because it isn’t just about what you’re eating. Sometimes it’s 👇🏻

🧬 Your stomach acid may be low.

☹️ Your gut may need healing.

⚕️Your thyroid may be slowing absorption.

💊Your medicines may be blocking it.

🚨Your body is asking for attention,
not blame.

Get your levels checked 🙌 and start listening to your symptoms. Your body is talking to you‼️
