‘He wasn’t too worried about it, because it meant he could be my Bald Bro’ 🫶

Findlay is nine years old, and in January, he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Treatment began almost immediately, and dad Gordon braced him for the fact he would lose his hair - just like he did.

‘He actually made the decision to shave his head himself, and two of his friends shaved theirs at the same time to support him.

‘He took it incredibly well and said he wasn’t too worried because it meant he could be my Bald Bro, which definitely helped lighten the mood for all of us.’

Findlay has been ‘amazingly resilient’ throughout his treatment, and his family have reassured him that he’s looking great.

‘He’s a wee bit conscious about how he looks at times – particularly the “moon face” that comes with the steroids – but we keep reminding him that it’s all temporary.

‘In the meantime, we think he’s rocking the bald look.’

‘I came across you guys and braved the shave’ 🙌

Josh’s hair used to be his crowning glory. Growing up, he had just about every Beckham hairstyle.

But in his early 20s he noticed his widow’s peak creeping further and further back, to the point he started hating visiting the barber.

‘I tried the medication. I even considered a hair system, but the maintenance just seemed insane.’

Thankfully, he eventually found freedom in baldness.

‘I came across you guys and braved the shave.

‘I went straight for a smooth head and I never looked back. I feel so much more confident.’

‘I had to make a decision - buy another toupee, go to Turkey, or shave it off’ 👨‍🦲

Lee started going bald when he was just 15, and he struggled with hair loss for the next decade.

He tried Regaine and deliberated getting a hair transplant, before eventually settling on a toupee - which temporarily gave him a confidence boost.

‘Nine months into the toupee, it began to thin and also went ginger with the hot summer of 2018, so it started to look terrible.

‘I had to colour the patches in with a marker pen.’

Lee was now back in the same situation, fretting over patches as well as substantial maintenance.

So, aged 26, he decided to brave the shave. And to his surprise, his mates in the pub didn’t even comment on it - instead ridiculing his choice of t-shirt.

‘When I started seeing a woman bald it gave me that assurance that all of it was in my head.

‘My advice is to embrace it. Don’t be like me and have an Instagram history with a load of different hairlines.’

‘It took a lot to shave at 25 - but it was 100% worth it’ 👨‍🦲

Tom had been considering shaving for a few years, with his thinning advancing to the point the hair up top was almost ‘non-existent’.

Earlier this year, he finally plucked up the courage to take the leap.

‘I got sick of having to avoid rain, wind and being constantly worried on holiday, in the sea and the pool.

‘After two weeks, I’d basically forgotten what it was like to have hair.’
