I work in partnership with my clients to heal their bodies, I provide sports massage therapy, and remedial advice to give you the best chance of success in completing the healing process. My Methodologies and Approach
My mission as a Massage Therapist is to provide pain relief and healing through massage therapy. I realised early on in my career; there is an enormous demand for this approach to massage and surprisingly little supply of therapists who can offer these techniques and skills. Clients who find themselves caught in the loop of pain cycle, are well aware of the physical and emotional limitations and knock-on effects of chronic pain. When dealing with an injury, or a tight muscle, consciously and subconsciously, it affects your ability to perform everyday tasks, at times you cannot move. If a muscle is injured, through strain or impact, it is common for a client to avoid using or moving the injured area, due to discomfort. When an injured muscle is not moved, the fibres in the soft tissue will adhere together, which impacts the functionality and mobility of the muscle. Muscle tissues need to glide alongside another for optimum mobility when fibres are fused, combined with a lack of movement, the result is pain. Your brain processes pain and movement through the same neurological pathways, meaning in the instance you have a back injury, you may only be aware of this when your body is not in motion, or for others simply breathing can cause discomfort. The role of the sports massage is to break the cycle of pain, reduce the tension in the muscle and break down the fibre adhesions in the tissue while in a lax state. Following the massage there are simple steps to follow to aid the healing process, this can include body exercises such as light stretching and strengthening, mind exercises such as meditation and mindfulness to relax the nervous system as well as drinking lots of water for hydration. It is a team effort, and I keep in touch with my clients to ensure they are practising their part to play. Sports Massage plays an important role in the process of injury rehabilitation, together we will help your body heal.
