There’s more happening in Pilates than most people realise.

Here are four principles quietly shaping the work, whether you notice them or not:

1) It isn’t meant to feel chaotic:
Classical Pilates was designed to look calm, controlled and intentional. True strength isn’t frantic, it’s organised, efficient movement that feels steady and sustainable.

2) It’s a complete system:
Pilates was created as a full method, mat and apparatus working together. The goal isn’t just what happens in the studio, but how your body moves, supports and carries you through daily life.

3 ) The mat teaches honesty:
Without springs to assist or resist, the mat asks for deep control and connection. It’s deceptively demanding and an essential part of understanding the method as a whole.

4) The sequence has meaning:
Exercises are ordered with purpose. Each movement prepares the body for what follows, layering strength and awareness progressively, never randomly.

Pilates continues to evolve, but its foundations remain the same: to restore balance, improve how we move, and support the body for life.

After many years of teaching Pilates, learning the method, and supporting clients through every stage of life, creating this space has been a quiet goal of mine for a long time.

Sona is my dream studio, a place to teach classical Pilates with care, intention and space, and to support more bodies through their Pilates journey in a way that feels considered and personal.

I’m so grateful for the support already, and for the community that’s already beginning to grow around this space. The doors are open, and I truly can’t wait to welcome and meet more of you.
