I clear my child, but there are others in the class that just don't bother, so they give them back to my child. Sound like a familiar thought? The reality, it that most parents think that they are clearing their child or children because they are using the head lice products - lots of it and frequently. But that's the problem - relying on products with low levels of effectiveness means nothing is getting properly cleared. Lice are often still there, unscathed by the shampoo's. The eggs are unaffected. They then hatch and the infestation picks itself back up. Think about it - if the products aren't delivering what they say they deliver then why are you relying on them? You are buying hope not effectiveness.

Head lice can cause real anxiety for a child - they can feel responsible for catching it, stressed by having it, and shameful thoughts about being somehow different or dirty because of it. They can also be socially ostracised or bullied for having it by others. All of this undermines their self confidence and happiness.

Does your child have sociable hair?
If their hair is out and in touches others your child is at risk of picking up head lice. Tie it back, plait or braid it and keep it from being sociable with others! This is the best way to protect it.

Using tea tree to clear head lice? Using it to protect against head lice? You will probably be surprised to know that there is no good scientific research that back that up.
It's a natural anti-bacterial (and lice carry a lot of bacteria), but it doesn't ward them off or repel them.
