Our designers have had three covers selected for this years exhibition. Although we can’t reveal the chosen covers just yet, we thought we’d share some of the designs from our team that didn’t make the final 700.

Designer:

Song: “Blind Willie McTell” – Bob Dylan

Idea: Bob Dylan’s song Blind Willie McTell was inspired by a the blues singer of the same name – famous for his fingerstyle guitar technique. He learnt to read and write in Braille as a child and showed an incredible musical proficiency despite his visual impairment.

Exploring the relationship between sight, sound and touch – this graphic interpretation of the subject matter takes on the form of a guitar fret, McTell's signature instrument, and replaces the usual fret markers with tactile braille lettering – spelling out BOB, a nod to the artist.

The illustration emerges from a shade of blue, a reference to the Blues genre of both Bob Dylan and Willie McTell’s repertoire.

Designer:

Song: “Blind Willie McTell” – Bob Dylan

Idea: A quaver and semibreve music note come together to form the face of blind character singing – emphasising the point that vision isn’t needed to create visionary music, much like the subject of the song, Blind Willie McTell.

🚨🖼️🚨BIDDING OPEN🚨🖼️🚨

We were recently asked by to contribute to their annual fundraising art auction. This year’s theme was ‘courage’.

We have created 4 original pieces which are now available to bid on, running from today (24 August) to September 24. All proceeds go to NABS – a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people working in design, advertising and media.

If you’d like to own a piece of courageous art while supporting a charity that looks out for people working in our industry, check out the link in bio. Descriptions of each of our four piece are below.

Title: Stand up. Speak up.
Description: Courage is about taking a stand. Sometimes all you need is a little extra height to rise above the noise and make your voice heard. With this soapbox you'll always be ready to fight for what matters to you.
Media: Wooden box. Acrylic. Footprints

Title: Draw pictures not arms
Description: In a turbulent world, the protest placard has become a form of art in itself. Take this art off your wall and onto the street to get your message seen and heard.
Media: Wooden frame. Glass. Acrylic. Stick.

Title: A4 Shmay 4
Description: It takes courage to pursue an idea that is too big for the parameters of a brief.
Media: Wooden frame. Glass. Paper.

Title: Courage is...
Description:
We often search online to find understanding. But to understand what true courage means to each of us, we only need to look around us.
Media: Quality paper print.

The relationship between past and present runs throughout the typography and messaging of the brand through the use of the elegant serif GT Super, alongside the more robust and modern Calibre. The brand colour palette was inspired by the traditional navy uniforms and brass helmets worn by the brigade in its early years.

Many thanks to for capturing the local scene and for helping with the words.
