What a fantastic day! On 29th April we officially launched the Employers Framework, a free toolkit to progress businesses to a stigma free workplace.

Event included a preview of how the toolkit works. A case study was also shared of our pilot business, Visiting Angels, who we have been working with over the past year, trialling out the framework together.

Champion David shared his lived experience of mental ill health in the workplace, reinforcing the importance of not feeling alone in the workplace. A powerful takeaway from David’s words: "Ensuring those implementing change are Believers of Change".

Royal Borough of Kingston Council are supporting the Employers Framework and we are grateful to Liz Trayhorn who shared on the day why they are supporting our initiative.

There is still a taboo around su***de. This can make it even harder for people to open up and feel understood.

When we are equipped with the right skills and knowledge, we no longer fear the conversation and instead, we can confidently reach out to someone who we may be worried about.

Zero Su***de Alliance has created a free 20 minute su***de awareness training for you to gain skills and confidence to help someone who may be considering su***de.

Anyone can learn how to have a potentially life-saving conversation.
Learn how to spot su***de warning signs; how to have a conversation with someone you’re worried about; and where to signpost to for further support.

➡️ Follow the link below for the full training

It takes around 20 minutes – click ‘Next’ when the training loads.

The training is recommended for anyone aged 16 and over.

Here you’ll find a shorter gateway module (5 – 10 minutes), as well as the autism, university, veteran and taxi editions.

Posted • It’s been 63 years since su***de was decriminalised in the UK. But so many of us still use the term ‘commit su***de’.

Why does it matter? Language that links su***de and crime can increase stigma and prevent people struggling with suicidal thoughts from speaking out.

If we choose language like ‘died by su***de’ or ‘took their own life’ we allow space for open conversations and compassion. Let’s choose our words carefully.
