We think that to maintain sound physical and mental health, we need to limit and restrict the things we enjoy (food) and replace them with the things we have to do (exercise). It is possible to take a more relaxed and positive approach rather than trying to deny yourself something we enjoy or forcing ourselves to stick to strict regimes. Do not simply eliminate all enjoyable activities; it is not sustainable in the long term. Instead, try to modify existing activities with something that brings more balance to your life. For example, if you spend hours watching TV, try listening to an audiobook or podcast whilst walking outside.

BBC Arts commissioned research that revealed even the briefest time spent on a creative pastime such as painting, pottery, or playing the piano impacts our well-being and emotions. Getting hands-on with something new and creative is essential regardless of skill level; it is the taking part that counts.
Try using movement not only to improve your fitness levels but also to express your creativity. Taking dance or yoga classes might be for those who require some instructions on how to move. But dancing to your favourite tune in your room can be fun too.

As with people, individual cells need to be able to interact with their environment and with each other. Cells have complex communication mechanisms to receive a message, transfer the information, and then produce changes in their internal workings in response to that message. That's how your brain cell can tell your leg muscles to contract when you begin to walk, and your bladder lets know you need to use the bathroom. You can improve cell to cell communication with daily movement, a nourishing diet and restful sleep.

Our body language communicates thoughts, emotions, and feelings, even before we realise it's happening. Humans have a long evolutionary history of learning to read and interpret this language. Microexpressions of our faces, hand gestures, and posture all register in the human brain almost immediately—even when a person is not consciously aware they have perceived anything.

Moving in nature can be very rewarding. 🍁🌿🍄🌳🍂🌲

Surprisingly, it can simultaneously improve our eyesight and reduce stress. Spending time outdoors means we stay away from electronic devices, get plenty of natural light, and expand our field of vision.

👁We use 'tunnel vision' when watching TV or scrolling on the phone; we get the same vision when stressed.

🌳In nature, we automatically switch from tunnel to peripheral vision. It activates our parasympathetic nervous system, which brings us to a more balanced and relaxed state of mind and body.

Our consciousness is the awareness of internal and external existence. Each of us is living through our individual appreciation and understanding of the world around us. Our minds and bodies are shaped by it accordingly.

Some treadmill walking pros and con's to consider.

The research still debates how significant the differences are between the treadmill and ground walking.

We employ multiple joint movements when we walk, change the pace or direction while interacting with the environment we are walking in. In addition, we use our special senses of vision and hearing as we move through our surroundings. It isn't easy to replicate the same on a treadmill and in a scientific paper.

While treadmill walking can be great low impact activity, if you can, and when you can go for a walk outside. It nourishes our mind and soul as well as our bodies.🌿🌿
