London Hearts

London Hearts London Hearts is a registered charity (1180901) We aim to provide defibrillators throughout the UK.

Less than one in ten people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest. We believe that the widespread availability of defibrillators, and the more people willing and able to use them, the better out of hospital cardiac arrest patients outcomes will be. London Hearts provides charitable grants and fundraising support to help communities and organisations obtain a a defibrillator, as well as CPR training awareness sessions, so that anyone can learn how to save a life. We are working towards a future where nobody is further than 100m away from one of these lifesaving devices, wherever they are in the UK. Help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke by keeping active 💪🫀
Easy ways you can stay active and get some exercise in at home ➡️

1) Mini movement breaks. Every hour you are sat down, try to move for 5-10 minutes. Walking, doing a chore or going up and down the stairs a few times.

2) Regular trips to the shop on foot. Carrying heavy bags is great to improve strength, and extra walking will boost your fitness and heart and lung capacity.

3)Take the stairs. Use any excuse to take the stairs. This will boost your strength and stamina.

4) Clean your windows. Window cleaning helps to strengthen the arm muscles and improve range of motion at the shoulder joints.

5) Rediscover your inner child. Children have lots of energy, so joining in with their games will have you moving around more too.

6) Walking socially. Meeting friends for lunch, why not walk and talk instead? The walk will improve your heart fitness and strengthen your muscles and bones.

7) Try an online workout. There are thousands of videos on YouTube for all levels and abilities, and they often don't require equipment.

Remember, if you have not exercised for some time, or have a heart condition that you’re concerned about, make sure you speak to your GP first.❤

🚨 Community impact in action at The Gardners Arm, Grimshaw Lane in Middleton! 🚨

Do you remember the brilliant fundraising day at The Gardeners Arms on Grimshaw Lane?

Well, the generosity did not stop there. The fantastic landlady Barbara kept the momentum going and actually raised more than she needed. Talk about operational excellence at community level.

Tonight, one of our DSL Heart Heros delivered the full life-saving package straight to the pub:
⚡️a defibrillator,
🗄a heated cabinet and
🩸a bleed kit.
A complete emergency-ready solution, deployed right where it matters.

Next step, the brewery will install the unit so it can be officially registered, fully powered and monitored, and supported by Barbara as the on-site guardian. A perfect example of community partnership creating sustainable, high-impact outcomes.

And here is the part that hits home. The gentleman whose life Barbara saved through CPR will be able to see this lifesaving kit installed in his local community before he moves away. That is not just a defib on a wall, that is a legacy, a living reminder of what swift action, training and community spirit can achieve.

Amazing work Barbara, amazing work Gardeners Arms, and amazing work to everyone who donated. This is how we build safer, stronger communities, one installation at a time. ❤️💛

🚨 Did You Know? 🚨
Contrary to popular belief, defibrillator cabinets do not power or recharge the defibrillator inside! They’re designed to protect the device, not supply it with energy.
Defibrillators rely on lithium batteries that need replacing every few years to stay rescue-ready🪫💓
🔋 Cabinet Power Explained: The cabinet’s power supply is there to heat the cabinet, keeping your defibrillator safe and functioning in cold conditions.
Make sure your community is informed about these life-saving details – every second counts! ⏱️

As many of you will know, we took part in a sponsored walk earlier this year to raise funds for a defibrillator.
We are delighted to announce that we now have a defibrillator in our setting.
Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Another unit placed today,

This time at The Post Box Sports Bar located at the “top of town”

The team at the Post Box Sports Bar will be placing the unit in a secure box outside the bar accessible to anyone in an emergency 🆘

The bar is an excellent family friendly location so having this unit will service the community well.

(We can recommend the wings too) 😉

New life saving defibrillators provided to a local school, great work Defibrillators Save Lives ❤ ..

Too many schools around the country are still without a defibrillator💔 - Cardiac arrest can affect people of any age and without warning.
Having defibrillators in schools is a vital step in ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors. ❤

🚑 Another 3 Lifesaving Assets Delivered to Chadderton! ❤️

Yesterday we dropped off three brand new defibrillators at one of Chadderton’s largest employers, the brilliant Newman Catholic College on Broadway.

This builds on the legacy left by the fantastic Glyn Potts, who championed the installation of an outdoor cabinet so the local community could access a defibrillator any time, day or night. That decision has already protected countless residents, and the leadership team at Newman have taken it even further.

The school has now:
❤️ Upgraded old units to the latest technology
❤️ Re-positioned internal defibrillators for faster access
❤️ Ensured staff, students, and the wider community benefit from quicker, safer interventions

And here’s the big win…
The new defibrillators don’t require pad changes between child and adult use. That means fewer decisions, fewer delays, and more seconds saved when it matters most.

Technology has come a long way, and those older CR2 Plus models are now approaching the end of their operational usefulness. If your workplace or school still has one, we strongly encourage you to review and upgrade. Your team’s safety is worth it.

Massive well done to Newman RC College for leading by example and setting the standard for Chadderton.

Community first. Always. ❤️📍

I love Chadderton

Why Defibrillators are Vital?❤

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can strike without warning, and the survival rate drops significantly for every minute that passes without treatment.
When a defibrillator is used within the first few minutes, the chances of survival dramatically increase.
That’s why it’s crucial to know where the nearest defibrillator is and how to use it effectively.💫❤

Why is it Important to Know the Location of Defibrillators?❤

When someone suffers from sudden cardiac arrest, the quicker a defibrillator is applied, the higher the chances of survival. Having a defibrillator nearby can be the key to saving a life. In public spaces, such as shopping centres, airports, and sports arenas, defibrillators are often placed in easily accessible areas. However, many people are unaware of where they are located, which is why it’s essential to have a strategy for locating one in an emergency.

How to Find Your Nearest Defibrillator

⭐ Defib Finder
⭐GoodSam App
⭐Check Local Venues and Public Spaces
⭐Ask Your Local Council or Health Service
⭐Use the British Heart Foundation’s Resources

What to Do When You Find a Defibrillator

Once you’ve located a defibrillator, it’s important to know how to use it effectively. Fortunately, most modern defibrillators are designed to be user-friendly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to using an AED:

Turn on the Defibrillator: Follow the instructions provided by the device. The AED will typically speak to you, guiding you through each step.
Attach the Electrodes: Place the adhesive pads on the person’s bare chest, as instructed.
Allow the AED to Analyse: The device will assess the person’s heart rhythm and determine whether a shock is needed.
Deliver the Shock: If the AED indicates a shock is required, press the button to deliver it. If no shock is advised, follow the device’s instructions for continued CPR.
Remember: You do not need to be trained to use an AED—these devices are designed for people without medical training to use in an emergency.

London Hearts Defibrillator Charity

London Hearts is a Registered Charity in England, Charity Number 1180901

Our mission is centered on saving lives in England by funding Public Access Defibrillators and emergency lifesaving equipment throughout England, and providing CPR training sessions. We would like to see a Defibrillator next to every fire extinguisher in England.

It’s shocking that the survival rate is only 3%. Where an AED or Defibrillator is used, the survival rate increases to 67 %. “Unfortunately, there are not enough defibrillators in England or enough confident people to give victims the best chance of survival during those first few critical minutes. With access to more defibrillators we can provide a vital link in the chain of survival so that even more lives can be saved. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, their chances of survival drop by up to 10% for every minute that passes, so a speedy response is crucial. Therefore, early defibrillation – within three to five minutes – gives the best possible chance of survival.” We are inundated with requests on a daily basis.
