London, UK – July 2025 – Renowned globally for its innovative artistic training approach, Ilumina makes its debut at London's historic Wigmore Hall on 28 July 2025 as part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations. Under the artistic leadership of internationally acclaimed violist Jennifer Stumm, the concert highlights exceptional artistry through a vibrant and carefully curated musical programme.
Since its establishment in São Paulo in 2015, Ilumina has significantly accelerated the artistic growth of numerous young Latin American musicians. Employing a groundbreaking methodology centred on intensive immersion and close mentorship by established international artists, Ilumina has consistently produced musicians who achieve global recognition and are now integral parts of prestigious institutions worldwide.
Over the past decade, Ilumina has performed on prominent international stages including KKL Luzern and the Concertgebouw, presented collaborative projects with acclaimed artists, and produced innovative residencies that attracted attention and praise from global critics. The festival's pioneering artistic approach and commitment to excellence have positioned it as a significant contributor to the international classical music landscape.
The concert programme features an eclectic repertoire, from classical masterpieces by Villa-Lobos, Bartók, Ravel, and Brahms to contemporary works by Rhiannon Giddens and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson. The evening will also showcase improvisational pieces inspired by Brazilian rhythms such as Capoeira and Chorinho, demonstrating the musicians' remarkable technical skill and creative artistry.
