🩺 What Makes a Good Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)?

A well-built IFAK is more than a collection of medical items. It’s a personalised resource tailored to your environment, activity, and level of risk.

While every kit should reflect your specific needs, the bare minimum essentials should include:
• Non-woven swabs (sterile)
• Haemorrhage control bandage
• Large sterile dressing
• Microporous tape
• CAT tourniquet
• WoundClot trauma gauze (haemostatic)
• Saline wipes
• Foil blanket
• Assorted plasters
• Shears / Tuff Cuts
• Resuscitation aid
• Disposable gloves
• Antiseptic
• Triangular bandage

Beyond these fundamentals, remember that an effective IFAK should always be adapted to the time of year, climate, and weather conditions. Cold environments, extreme heat, wet climates, and remote travel each require specific considerations to ensure your kit remains functional and relevant.

SEPAR International and Reuters are teaming up for a test of endurance. To raise vital funds for the Rory Peck Trust, which supports freelance journalists reporting from some of the world’s toughest and most dangerous places. 🛡️🗞️

The challenge includes:
🏊‍♂️ 1-mile swim
🚴‍♀️ 55-mile bike ride from Hereford to Pen y Fan
🥾 5-mile hike to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in southern Britain!

For over 12 years, SEPAR International has worked with the Rory Peck Trust to deliver safety and resilience training to journalists on the frontlines. Reuters, a founding supporter of the Trust, continues to champion press freedom and journalist safety around the world. 🌐

Today, we pause to remember and honour all who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

At SEPAR International, we are proud to support our veterans, not just today, but every day. As a holder of the Gold Armed Forces Covenant Award, we remain committed to employing and supporting ex-service personnel, recognising the immense value they bring to our team and our communities.

This year, our Founder Smudge and Global Operations Manager Steve had the honour of attending the Cenotaph Parade 2025, standing alongside fellow veterans and service members in remembrance.
