Yoga is one of the best and quickest methods to increase flexibility and alleviate pains and strains within the body and mind. Unlike regular exercise, yoga specifically concentrates on the balance between breath, body and mind, thus allowing you to give full and complete awareness to the task at hand. Through a deeper understanding of the inner components of the body, we learn to know its fullest potential. Benefits for sports/fitness professionals: Regular practice of asanas (postures) along with correct application of yogic breath offers a deeper focusing of the mind, precise movement (eliminating hesitation), increased energy levels, strong and flexible joints, and expulsion of lethargy or 'sluggish' feeling. The word yoga means 'unity' or oneness and is derived from the Sanscrit word 'Yuj' which mean 'to join'- Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha by Swami Satyananda Saraswati

This 'unity' is achieved through a series of Asanas (postures), Bandhas (body locks) and Pranayamas (breathing techniques). Each posture is carefully designed to keep the spine limber and the mind focused, with a constant awareness of breath and its importance within the body, especially when we exercise. Beginners: Even with a simple introduction of as little as 1 hours practice a week, there will most certainly be a calming affect on the mind, which as we all know trickles down into the physical form.

When you have to quickly whip up a Pilates flyer for a new project and you realise half way through that you only have (1000) pictures of yourself doing yoga..... And not one single one of Pilates...and that you haven't in fact posed for anything in a very long time 😜

Step 1: Pose on the floor of your bedroom and hope for the best
Step 2: F*CK it!

So, it's finally happening. Today is my last day of 39.

39 years of living, loving, thinking, creating, laughing, making mistakes, celebrating, dancing, singing, exploring, crying, playing, walking, taaaaaalking, sharing, learning, growing and so much more - Phew!

39 has been emotional. I have made more conscious changes in the last 12 months than any of my previous adult decades. I've retrained, healed my eye, changed old routines, implemented new and improved ones, done a LOT of study (4 courses and 2 qualifications, to be precise!) and now it's time to reap the fruits of my labour (Shout out to hubby .healthpilates for helping make it all happen this year and putting up with me 🙏🏽❤️)

I'm looking forward to my 40's. I can already feel my f***s dropping away at a higher speed 👌😂 Looking forward to giving even less if them as I embrace myself in all my authentic glory 🔥 Let's see what life has I store for me!

The sun is out, the trees are green which can only mean one thing - LET'S HUM is back!!

So happy to announce this season of park humming will begin slightly earlier this year.

I don't usually start until mid to late June but as I will be having a big bday in June and in the mood to celebrating life and abundance, I couldn't resist popping one in around this years May Flower Moon in Sagittarius. We will just miss the main event which will happen on 3 days before, but we will be coming out of the shadow phase and very much still repeating all the benefits of this powerful moon. This event, like the moon will focus on ushering in the new, celebrating the idea of new possibilities and embracing change with a sense of optimism!

Dancing, banging drums, shaking eggs, laughing, singing, stretching and sharing in a wonderful community!

Basically, it's a wonderful time to manifest, sit in ritual, reflect and make positive movements towards a brighter future for all of us! I can't think of a better way to celebrate my almost 40 years on this earth!

It's about time I reintroduced myself, so here goes.

I'm Karis and I'm a yoga teacher (and soon to be Pilates teacher) with almost 15 years of experience, a professional singer and sound therapist.

I write my own songs and spent many years travelling around the country and internationally performing, sharing my music and learning different vocal techniques. I have studied in India, Brazil, Peru and New Zealand. I am passionate about helping people and bringing people together with movement and sound combined - it's the most fun, healing and peaceful combo I've ever experienced ❤️🥰

I speak 3 languages and LOVE making weird and wonderful sounds with my voice. I have been a Sound therapist since 2015, though I was already using a lot of these techniques unofficially way before I was certified. I believe there is power in self created sounds and have been honing my unique process of activating the dormant inner voice for several years. I have been studying Family Constellations therapy since 2018 and believe I will be a forever student of this incredible therapy. I have a particular interest in trauma release through sound and movement, ancestral flow and gengeneratuonaly healing and this can be explored in my group workshops.

I have been working at a slower pace as my young family took centre stage, but will now be opening my calendar for bookings and very much look forward to meeting you all ☺️
