During World Cancer Day, TLC Care supported those affected by cancer by raising funds through a bake sale Cuffley Manor Care Home, delivering Hope Kits to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Arthur Rank Hospice Cherry Hinton Care Home Cambridge Manor Care Home and donating gift baskets to patients and healthcare teams at G1 Frimley Health Camberley Manor Care Home.

Every gesture, wether big or small was a reminder that compassion is not just what we believe in, it’s what we do. To everyone who baked, donated, packed, delivered and supported, thank you for helping us stand with those affected by cancer.

Behind every great day at TLC Care is a team member with a story worth sharing. We’re delighted to spotlight the journeys that brought them here. This week, we’re shining a light on Rian Era, our Care Services Manager at TLC Karuna Manor Care Home

Here’s Rian's story in his own words:
"I am a General Nurse, qualified in 2003, with experience across both medical and surgical hospital settings. After working in Dubai in a surgical setting, including Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) procedures, I moved to the UK in 2009 and gained extensive experience in community care.

I joined TLC Care in 2015 as a Team Leader while completing my NMC registration. With the company’s full support, I obtained my UK nursing licence. Since then, I have progressed to Unit Manager and now Care Services Manager, completing a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification with distinction.

I truly love my role and consider TLC Care a second family. One of my proudest achievements is growing within the organisation while helping to deliver high-quality care to our residents. I highly recommend TLC Care as a workplace for its commitment to care excellence, career development and genuine team support. "

TLC Care was proud to support the first round of the Rotary Young Chef Competition hosted by Brookmans Park Rotary, celebrating the creativity and confidence of young chefs from Chancellor’s School. A huge congratulations to the winner, whose beautifully presented two-course menu impressed the judging panel for both technique and flavour.

Our own Stuart Keown (Resident Experience Manager of Food & Beverage) and Dawn Cawley (Business Development Manager, TLC Cooperscroft Care Home) were honoured to join Neil Kirby of Brookmans Park Rotary as judges—encouraging every competitor and applauding an exceptional standard across the day.

As a special reward, the winning recipes will be introduced across TLC Care homes, and 'dish of the day' sticky toffee pudding will be made for residents at TLC Cooperscroft in Potters Bar—bringing this inspiring community initiative directly into our homes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark the occasion and helped make the day so warm, welcoming and memorable. We were also honoured to welcome the Mayor, whose presence made the celebration even more meaningful.
