You can train to get Stronger, Faster, Bigger but real growth occurs with Inner Work…

Inner work is the process of deep introspection and self-inquiry to develop self-awareness, understanding and healing by exploring our inner world of thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and past experiences.

As in the ancient Greek Aphorism “Know Thyself”, which encourages the pursuit of self-knowledge, including our emotions, desires, abilities, and motivations, as the foundation for wisdom and a meaningful life,

Inner work allows us to understand whether our choices and direction are in alignment with our true self or if we are making them to gain externally what we lack within or suppressing what we haven’t yet fully felt.

With the mind-body connection I feel this is the foundation in creating long-term societal health improvements. But we have a modern world that is driving us to be more disconnected, distracted not only from self but our connection with others.

Everything is an opportunity to understand self.

As within So without

Putting people on an app with no comprehensive analysis of health history, current lifestyle/stressors, beliefs, values or understanding of them as a human and giving them a calorie controlled plan and generic fitness routine is Not “Coaching”. Especially with no real ongoing personable monitoring and human interaction with the individual.

The human body does not operate like numbers on a computer. It is a complex system of integrated physical and physiological systems of which the mind, emotions, feelings and relationship with self all have an effect on creating not just numbers on a scale but actual long-term health.

Most people first of all want to be heard and understood but that takes a willingness to look and express from within rather than opting for quick fixes which perpetuates the cycle of stop-start health regimes and quick solutions.

The role of a coach is to provide space for the individual to develop an awareness of self, understand their own beliefs, be able to connect and listen to their body whilst providing an understanding and education of how lifestyle choices align with creating who they want to become.

To the point where the reliance on the coach becomes less and less as the individual becomes more aligned and on a path to their true self and purpose (apart from aspects such as programming, technical or complex issues that may arise).

You don’t have to be full of knowledge to be a coach, it’s more about connection, understanding and an ability to hold space for another, coaching from shared personal experience and wisdom whilst maintaining integrity and providing safe information.

So many people call themselves coaches but do not do any actual coaching, they are literally plan providers with non to minimal connection.

It’s not just about maintaining an ideal body weight, it’s about creating long-term health at cellular level with the systems of the body functioning as optimally as possible with the energy and mindset to live your purpose.

People will get long-term results when they realise that connection to self is most important and stop chasing instant gratification or quick fixes. The role of a coach when it comes to health and wellness is to provide the opportunity for that change.
