Someone asked me recently, “Why do you post so much about the trans debate?”

It’s a fair question and the answer, for me, comes down to three things:

1. Truth.
If we can’t agree on basic facts like male and female being binary biological realities - how can we ever have honest conversations about more complex issues? Truth is the foundation. Without it, we’re lost.

2. Protecting Young People.
As a father of two and a youth football coach, I care deeply about kids. The Tavistock clinic collapsed for a reason, and the Cass Report laid bare the failings of “affirmative-only” care. It has left many young people infertile, depressed, and abandoned by the system that was meant to help them.

Here’s the lie that’s often told: “Affirm them or they’ll kill themselves.”
That claim has been used to coerce families into agreeing to life-altering medical interventions they know aren’t right for their children. But the truth is - there is no solid evidence to support it. It’s emotional blackmail, not medicine.
For those who genuinely want to understand the full story, read A Time to Think by Hannah Barnes.

3. Fairness in Sport.
Sport has shaped my life. I believe in competition, fairness, and safety -
all of which are being undermined. Lia Thomas broke multiple women’s records in swimming while retaining fully intact male anatomy and using the female changing area. This is not isolated. It’s happening in the UK too.

I’ll share more thoughts soon on DSD, the rebranding of gay conversion therapy, and the recent US Supreme Court ruling.

For now, I’ll let the book speak.

20 years of Revolution 🎉

Back in 2005, John and I set out to build something that mattered, a place where people could train hard, feel better, and genuinely change their lives.

Today, we’re proud to say…we did that ❤️
Thousands of clients, thousands of hours on the gym floor, and stories we’ll never forget.

On a personal note -
when my football career ended, I felt I’d quit too soon.
So when we started Revolution, I made a promise to myself:
This time, I don’t quit.

And trust me, there were times I wanted to.
Running a small business can be brutally hard and lonely.
But we kept showing up.

Covid nearly knocked us out - but we rebuilt.
Now, the next chapter is coming… and it’s exciting 👀

Thank you to every single person who’s been part of the journey - clients, trainers, family, and friends. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Here’s to the next 20 💪

Now that the first round of games has been played at Euro 2024 I am struck by one observation.

When I watch Germany play I see an identity to the style of football they play…fast paced and high press with players that can hurt you.

Spain will keep the ball with short passes and demand the ball under severe pressure. They will unlock their opponents defence in a heart beat.

France are strong at the back and are athletic with pace all over the pitch. That’s without mentioning Mbappe and Griezmann.

I just don’t understand what style we are trying to play in. We need to create a footballing identify as a national team which plays into the strengths of our brilliant players.

I sincerely hope I’m wrong and that I’m looking silly in 4 weeks when England win this tournament but I just cannot see that happening.

Can England still win Euro 2024?

I was devastated to learn of the passing of Kevin Campbell yesterday.

As a first year apprentice footballer at Nottingham Forest I was Kev’s boot boy. Yesterday , and I shared stories about Super Kev that really sum up the man.

I still remember receiving a crisp £50 note from him at the Christmas party in 1995 for doing a good job looking after his kit and boots. If he was heading back to London after a match, Marlon and I would get lift with him. Another time he paid for us to travel first class with him on the train from Nottingham to St Pancras.

I coach young lads now and I pass on the advice he gave me on how to create space as a centre forward.

What a footballer he was. But most importantly, what a man he was.

Rest in Peace Super Kev. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Last night I had the absolute pleasure to score the winning goal in the coaches v parents game for my son’s football club Poets Corner F.C.

The coaches and parents teams were made up from the whole club from under 8’s to under 16’s.

I have really enjoyed helping to coach Charlie’s team these past few months. With most of the team there watching it was important to me to show them I don’t ask them to do anything I can’t do myself.

My season started last year on July 28th - so now it’s time to rest the ankles which are seriously sore this morning. That said - the pain is 100% worth it.

Happy Mother’s Day Mrs G. You’re the best. ❤️❤️❤️

I say to personal trainers all the time if you can’t emotionally connect with your clients you’ll never get the best out of them.

A squat, lunge, deadlift, push, pull, rotation. Programming is not difficult for 95% of the population.

We’re drowning in information on the ideal way to train and the ‘best’ diet. Meet your clients where they’re at and provide solutions for them based on their life.

Empathy, high energy and a willingness to challenge your clients limitations. They are the traits for personal trainers that I’m interested in.

Special day at the football watching West Ham v Everton.

With my two brothers. This is the first time the three of us have watched the hammers with all our sons.

The 2-0 win rounded off the perfect day. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Today saw the end of Charlie’s indoor karting champs. He missed out in the grand final by one place.

As a parent you want to take away the pain of defeat but kids need to feel this to grow.

At only 8 years old and youngest on track today I am immensely proud.

Next year we come back stronger. 🏎🏎🏎🏎

Few highs and lows from the weekends vets football tournament in Portugal. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

The team topped our group and reached the semi finals where we narrowly lost 1-0.

On a personal level is was a tough footballing weekend. Felt my groin go after 5 mins of the first match, then had my rib cracked at the end of that same game.

Spent the rest of the tournament either on the bench or hobbling around and scoring no goals.

Great effort from the lads though and the nights out were a lot of fun.

Fair to say I didn’t match my sons recent sporting prowess. 🤣🤣👍

Last night my son, Charlie entered the BIKC local karting finals.

There were 9 lads racing with the top 5 progressing to the regional finals in Essex.

Unlike me he was so calm and composed and finished first in qualifying and first in the race itself.

Finding this passion has been transformational for Charlie as his confidence in all areas of his life has grown.

*As a side note his age group is from 8-11 and he was the only eight year old on track.

Onto the regional finals we go. 🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎
