I heard this the other day:
“I’m not depressed… just meh.”
I know that feeling and you might too. Not sad, not joyful, just flat. Like you’re running on low volume.
That “meh” space can feel uncomfortable, especially in midlife when we think we should have it figured out. (Spoiler! no one ever has it all figured out!) But sometimes what looks like emptiness isn’t a void, it’s a pause. A necessary quiet before what’s next. < Remember that!
The stillness you’re in might not mean nothing’s happening, it might mean something’s taking shape. Just quietly behind the scenes.
Suzuki described emptiness as “a reservoir of infinite possibilities.” I love that. 📝 🩵 Because it reminds us that limbo isn’t a permanent state, think of it as potential.
When I work with clients, we often explore this question:
“What’s one small bridge that could connect you to the next thing?” ❓️
You don’t need to see the whole map. Just notice what’s pulling your curiosity, your energy, your spark and follow it one small step at a time. 🐾
So if you’re feeling a bit “meh” lately, maybe it’s not a sign that you are depressed, but perhaps an invitation to listen more closely. 👀👂🏼
