Medical Education Aid Kenya - supported by Eyes on Kenya. We go to remote areas that are rarely serviced by other organisations.

Medical & Educational Aid to Kenya is a well-established UK charity, started by Mike & Dee Belliere in 1994. MEAK began with distributing pens & pencils & medical supplies, but quickly grew, keeping the same goal: To provide medical support to Kenya. MEAK works in the fields of ophthalmology, dentistry, orthopaedic & paediatric cardiac surgery with the overarching goal of reaching the unreached. MEAK have thus far carried out:
• 92 eye missions, reviewing nearly 85,000 patients and restoring sight to over 11,800 people
• 21 heart missions, with 444 children receiving life-saving heart surgery
• 7 dental missions with nearly 2800 people having dental extractions
• 16 orthopaedic missions with over 500 people receiving life-changing orthopaedic surgery

Congratulations to the Safarilink sponsored MEAK eye team for a very successful mission in Turkana. An amazing 818 patients were reviewed with 82 receiving sight-restoring cataract surgery & 34 having surgery for painful trachoma. Well done everyone!
