Friday the 13th.
Be honest…
Did you feel anything when you read that?
A flicker of hesitation?
A tiny “ooh…”?
Or absolutely nothing at all?
For centuries, Friday the 13th has been labelled unlucky.
Some people won’t travel.
Some won’t sign contracts.
Some genuinely expect something to go wrong.
But here’s a curious question:
Where’s the evidence?
There’s no consistent statistical proof that more bad things happen today than on any other Friday. It’s simply a story that’s been repeated often enough that it feels true.
And that’s fascinating.
Because we all carry our own versions of “Friday the 13th” beliefs:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I always mess things up.”
“Nothing ever works out for me.”
“People can’t be trusted.”
“I can’t change.”
Beliefs picked up somewhere along the way.
Repeated internally.
Rarely examined.
When a thought is repeated often enough, it stops feeling like a thought…
and starts feeling like a fact.
But is it?
Sometimes therapy isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about gently reviewing the stories you’ve inherited —
and deciding which ones you want to keep.
If you’re curious about the beliefs quietly shaping your life, perhaps today is a good day to question one of them.
Friday the 13th might just be neutral after all.
And maybe some of your old stories are too.
