Getting a positive STI diagnosis can be tough - especially due to the stigma and shame that exists around s*xually transmitted infections.
It can be tempting to blame yourself or someone else in these instances, the reality is: the majority of STIs are extremely treatable and most importantly, pretty common. It's not a reflection on a person or their s*xual behaviour - STIs don't discriminate and anyone who has partnered s*x could get one.
Getting tested is important for reducing onward transmission of STIs and ensuring all cases are treated where necessary. It is NOT to catch us out or shame those of us who receive a positive diagnosis.
