One of the people we support in the Southwest takes her recycling very seriously and has made it part of her daily routine. With the support of her staff, she carefully rinses containers, flattens cardboard, and sorts paper, glass, and plastics into the correct bags each morning. No matter the weather, she makes the short walk to the recycling bins, proud to be doing her bit for the environment and keeping her local community clean and tidy.

In the North East there’s been a big focus on building confidence with everyday living skills recently.

Some of the people we support have been really involved in learning how to iron – from setting up the environment to safely using the iron and taking pride in getting their clothes looking smart.

It’s been great to see everyone getting stuck in, supporting each other, and gaining skills that help build independence in day-to-day life.

One of supported people in the Southwest recently visited Haynes Motor Museum, inspired by his lifelong love of cars. Passionate about different makes and models, he was excited to see some of his favourite vehicles up close. One of our supported people in the North East had a productive afternoon at Oxfam, where he volunteers! Today wasn’t just any shift, he attended a training session on how to work behind the till, learning all the tips and tricks to make sure every customer gets a smooth experience.

Next time you pop into Oxfam, don’t be surprised if he is the friendly face serving you at the till, ready with a smile and freshly learned skills.

One of our supported people in the South West chose to celebrate his 60th birthday at Mei's Restaurant in Taunton, surrounded by good food and even better company.
All of his close friends were all there, waiting with smiles as he arrived. The table was filled with his favourite dishes, and before long they were raising their glasses in a heartfelt toast. Between laughter, shared memories, and a surprise birthday cake brought out by the staff, the evening felt warm and joyful.
As the candles flickered, everyone cheered together, “Happy Birthday!”

In the South East the Signing Choir had a sign-along session with VSC. Members from both Maidstone and Gillingham sessions of VSC visited to sign with us as we haven't seen them since our last performance before Christmas. As always it was great having this community link and engagement between our supported people and the wider community.
