Eight days after rhinoplasty, the focus is still very much on healing.

At this point, the splint has been removed, and the new nasal structure can be seen, although swelling remains entirely expected. This is often more noticeable around the tip and along the bridge, and it can take time for these areas to soften and settle.

Rhinoplasty results cannot be judged in the first week. Early alignment and proportion can be assessed, but refinement develops gradually over the months that follow as tissues adapt and swelling reduces.

Each nose heals differently. Skin thickness, structural changes, and individual response all influence recovery.

Sharing early post-operative images allows patients to understand the progression of rhinoplasty recovery and to develop realistic expectations regarding timing and outcome.

"I'm just a bit nervous."

It's something Mr Supriya hears regularly before rhinoplasty.

In this case, the concern wasn't the anaesthetic or the surgery itself, but rather the recovery and uncertainty about post-operative pain.

Mr Supriya explains that rhinoplasty is not usually described as a painful procedure. Most patients report discomfort or pressure, rather than significant pain, and simple medication such as ibuprofen is typically sufficient in the early days.

Often, anxiety stems from not knowing what to expect. A clear discussion beforehand helps patients feel more prepared for the recovery process.

"Ethics before aesthetics. Always."

Nidhi, our CEO and Practice Director, often says this. It guides her leadership of the clinic and informs everyday decisions. With a background in healthcare leadership and clinical governance, she believes aesthetic medicine carries a responsibility. The question is not simply what can be done, but what should be done.

Patients trust us to advise them honestly. This means discussing suitability clearly, setting realistic expectations and, when necessary, advising against treatment. Not every request results in a procedure; long-term well-being matters more than short-term change.

This principle shapes the culture at British Face Clinic. Every recommendation must be clinically justified and made with care.

If you would like to speak with our team, we are happy to provide considered and honest guidance.

Where is the incision placed during an upper lip lift?

It's one of the most common questions raised during consultations.

Mr Supriya explains that the incision is positioned in the natural crease beneath the nostrils, where the nose meets the upper lip. Careful placement allows the scar to sit within this groove rather than across the lip itself.

In the early phase of healing, the line can appear more noticeable; this is expected. As swelling reduces and the tissues mature, the scar typically softens and becomes less apparent.

Scar management also plays a role. Silicone-based products are often introduced a few weeks after surgery to support the healing process.

Every patient heals differently, which is why realistic expectations and appropriate aftercare are discussed before surgery takes place.

Open septorhinoplasty. Female, 20s. Nine days post-operative.

The primary concerns were nasal length and deviation to the right, giving the appearance of asymmetry.

An open septorhinoplasty was performed to address both structure and alignment. The nasal bridge was reduced through careful adjustment of cartilage and bone to refine the dorsal profile. The nasal tip was reshaped by reducing and repositioning tip cartilage, with sutures and septal cartilage grafts used to improve definition and support.

The septum was straightened to correct the deviation, with a left spreader graft placed to assist alignment. A tip support graft was also used to maintain projection and long-term stability.

At nine days, swelling remains expected, particularly around the tip. The structural correction can be appreciated, although refinement will continue over the coming months as tissues settle.

Rhinoplasty healing occurs in stages.

During the first couple of weeks, most patients experience a significant reduction in swelling. At this point, a large proportion of the visible swelling has subsided, and the nose begins to more closely resemble its eventual appearance.

In this video, Mr Supriya explains that while this early change happens relatively quickly, deeper healing continues for much longer. Scar tissue matures, swelling resolves at different depths, and refinement continues over several months.

Around three to four weeks after surgery, most patients can usually recognise how their nose is likely to look. However, the final result develops more gradually and typically becomes clear between six to nine months, once healing has fully progressed.

This staged recovery is a normal part of rhinoplasty and is discussed in detail during consultations at the British Face Clinic.

For a clearer sense of how rhinoplasty healing unfolds over time, the explanation in the video is helpful.

Not for the praise, but for the insight they provide into the patient experience, from the initial consultation through to recovery.

Clear explanations, knowing who you're dealing with, and feeling looked after post-surgery:

This is the standard we strive for every day at British Face Clinic, and feedback like this confirms when we meet it.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss something, please message us. We're happy to provide honest answers, even if you're just gathering information.

Scarring is often the first concern people have when they hear the term "lip lift".

In this video, Mr Supriya explains exactly where the incision is made. During an upper lip lift, the incision is placed just beneath the nostrils, following the natural crease where the nose meets the lip. This placement allows the scar to sit in an area that already has a shadow and contour.

During the early stages of healing, the incision may be more visible; however, this is a normal part of the process. As the weeks pass and the tissue settles, the scar usually softens and becomes much less noticeable.

Post-operative care is also important. Simple scar care, including the application of silicone gel a few weeks after surgery, helps support the incision as it heals and matures.
If scarring has been a concern, this video provides a clearer understanding of what to expect.

Eight days after surgery, the focus is on initial healing rather than the final outcome.

At this stage, the nasal splint has been removed and recovery is progressing. Some swelling and bruising are still present and to be expected, particularly around the bridge and tip of the nose. The nose will continue to change throughout the healing process.

This point in recovery allows for an initial assessment of the structure and alignment, but it is not representative of the final result. Refinement will occur gradually over the coming months as swelling reduces and the tissues settle.

Early postoperative images are shared to help patients develop realistic expectations regarding recovery timelines.

Today, we followed a patient through her rhinoplasty journey, from arrival to theatre.

A lot happens behind the scenes during a rhinoplasty, including preparation, coordination, and meticulous attention to detail, all of which the team checks and rechecks before surgery even begins.

Crucially, the same team members are involved at every stage, with clearly defined roles and shared responsibility throughout the day.

This is how rhinoplasty is performed at the British Face Clinic.

If you're considering rhinoplasty and would like to understand more about our process, further information is available on our website.

The initial signs of facial ageing usually appear gradually and often manifest in several ways at once.

Fine lines and wrinkles are frequently the first changes people notice. These develop as collagen and elastin production decreases over time, particularly around the eyes and forehead, where facial movement is frequent.

Enlarged pores and changes in skin texture can also become more noticeable. As the skin loses structural support, pores may appear more prominent, especially on the cheeks and nose.

Volume loss is another key change. Fat pads in the face naturally shrink and shift over time, particularly in the mid-face. This can affect facial balance and make areas look flatter or less supported.

As volume diminishes, sagging skin may become more apparent. This is often seen along the jawline and lower face, where the skin begins to sit differently over the underlying structure.

Hyperpigmentation can develop alongside these changes. This is commonly linked to cumulative sun exposure and alterations in how the skin produces and distributes pigment over time.

At British Face Clinic, Mr Supriya assesses these concerns holistically rather than in isolation. Depending on the underlying causes, they may be addressed with non-surgical treatments, surgical options, or a combination of both. The approach is guided by anatomy, timing, and individual needs.

Understanding how and why these changes occur is often the first step.

Lip lift surgery and lip fillers are often discussed together, but they achieve very different results.

A lip lift does not add volume. Instead, it reduces the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip. By shortening this length, the red part of the lip naturally turns outwards and becomes more visible.

Lip fillers work differently, adding volume directly into the lip tissue to increase fullness and alter the shape of the lip itself.

Because they address different aspects of the lip, the results are not the same, and one approach may be more appropriate than the other. In some cases, both can be combined, depending on the patient's anatomy and desired outcome.

In this video, Mr Supriya explains how these decisions are made in practice, based on proportion rather than assumption.

If you are unsure which option is most relevant to you, the video explanation provides a clear breakdown.
