Is there a non-invasive, drug-free option for treating depression?

Depression affects millions of people worldwide, and traditional treatments often involve medication, which may not appeal to everyone. However, there's an alternative: Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).

Benefits of rTMS:
• Non-invasive: No surgery or anaesthesia required. It's a safe and well-tolerated procedure.
• No medication side effects: For those concerned about potential side effects of antidepressant medication, rTMS provides a drug-free alternative.
• Non-systemic: Unlike medication, rTMS targets the specific brain areas involved in depression, without affecting the entire body.
• Effective results: Studies have shown significant improvements in mood, reduced symptoms of depression and increased quality of life for many patients undergoing rTMS treatment.

At The London Psychiatry Centre, we offer rTMS treatment administered by experienced professionals. Our team is dedicated to providing personalised care and helping you find relief from depression.

Contact us to learn more about rTMS and how it could be the key to overcoming depression without the use of antidepressants, or read more about rTMS here: https://www.psychiatrycentre.co.uk/repetitive-transcranial-magnetic-stimulation-rtms-clinic/

What does a CAMHS appointment look like?

When a child is referred to us, the procedure is different from that concerning an adult patient.

Our team will discuss the referral before offering an appointment. This appointment may be with any member of our friendly, expert team, depending on the problem being referred.

As appropriate, the clinician would usually see the parent(s) or carer(s) and child together, as well as separately.

Following this, the clinician can offer further sessions with the child, or refer them for a more detailed assessment organised with other members of the CAMHS team.

All of our appointments are carried out in a safe, quiet and comfortable environment.

We utilise precision medicine in our treatment combination for bipolar disorder. But what is it?

Precision medicine has revolutionised the way in which we approach diagnosis and treatment of bipolar spectrum disorder, allowing us to offer personalised care based on a patient's unique genetic makeup, lifestyle, and environmental factors.

Regarding our treatment of mood disorders, we use The Zamar Protocol™ (Precision guided high-dose thyroid hormones and rTMS protocol), which was developed by our Medical Director and is exclusive to The London Psychiatry Centre. It involves the use of High-Dose Levothyroxine (HDL) and mitochondrial treatment with repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) to form a highly effective alternative to traditional treatment.

Did you know that a third of Brits will have insomnia at some point in their lives?

Mental health and sleep are linked. If you suffer with poor mental health, this may negatively impact your sleep, and vice versa.

Sleep deprivation can also affect the immune system and cause poor memory, weight gain, high blood pressure and increased risk of diabetes, all of which can, in turn, further impact mental health.

For treatment options, as well as tips for better sleep, read our article: https://www.psychiatrycentre.co.uk/blog/sleep-and-mental-health/

This month is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. It’s an important reminder that men often face restrictive norms around masculinity, such as needing to appear strong, emotionless, or in control, leading to poor mental health support and outcomes. They also experience disproportionately high-rates of depression and su***de, with death by su***de being the biggest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK.

This month we’d like to gently remind you that it’s okay to talk about yout mental health, and to ask for help when you need it. If you’re struggling with low mood, stress, or anxiety, our team at The London Psychiatry Centre offers confidential, compassionate support to help you feel better.

What happens during an rTMS appointment at our clinic?

After your consultation, you will be comfortably seated in a chair with your head leaning back. Your clinician will place a support pillow around your neck and a personalised cotton cap on your head - these will remain in place for the duration of the session.

The treatment, administered using a magnetic coil, does not require sedation and is painless (there may be a slight tingling feeling at first, but your clinician will ensure that you are comfortable). The coil will be placed on one side of your head, and you will be asked to lie still for around 30 minutes while the treatment takes place.

Following your appointment, you are free to go about your normal activities.

Calling all Paediatricians, GPs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Psychotherapists!

Join us for our upcoming CPD-accredited event: The Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Child and Adolescents Mental Health . What is new?

🗓 Date: 19:00 Thursday 20th November 2025
📍 Attend online

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), childhood and adolescence are critical stages of life for mental health. This time is vital for growth, development, and shaping future mental health. When it comes to addressing young people’s mental health challenges, a multidisciplinary approach is best.

At The London Psychiatry Centre a range of treatments is offered, including 1-to-1 sessions with the child, family work, liaison with other professionals and medication. In this online event, members of our CAMHS team share our expertise, deep diving into child psychiatry and mental health, considering a case history, and discussing how the multidisciplinary team approach is the answer to a wide range of challenging mental health conditions.

This is a fantastic chance to learn, discuss, and connect with other healthcare professionals interested in cutting-edge, evidence-based treatments that deliver real results.
