Meet the Team 👋

At Ace Music Therapy, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. 💕

Each member of our team brings their own musicality, clinical knowledge and lived experience into the therapy space, but what truly connects us is a shared commitment to creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel seen, heard and valued. 🎶

Take a moment to get to know our wonderful team:

✨Lucy Dindoyal ✨
Acting CEO & Senior Music Therapist 🎶

Lucy graduated from Roehampton University in 2017 with a Masters degree in Music Therapy and started working for Ace shortly after.

For Lucy, using music to connect with the children she works with is a privilege, and she treats each individual according to their needs, listening and observing with an open mind. Her creative and flexible use of music using the piano, flute, her voice and percussion leads to the positive development of relationships, encourages self-expression and enhances wellbeing.

She has extensive experience in a variety of settings, including schools and respite homes, working with children and adolescents with a range of complex needs such as neurodiversity and learning disabilities, including PMLD. She particularly specialises in hospice work, where she works with life-limited children and their families, as well as babies on the neonatal ward.

She is particularly interested in the impact that trauma has on children and their families and she is delighted to have recently gained some training to qualify as an EMDR therapist which she hopes to use alongside music therapy.

In her spare time, Lucy loves spending time with her two children and whenever she can sn**ch a few quiet moments, loves to read and practice yoga.

If you’d like to know more about our work or have a question for one of the team, pop it in the comments or send us a message. We’d love to hear from you! 💬

Martha graduated with a Masters in Music Therapy from The University of Roehampton in 2023. With a background in teaching, Martha loves working with children and young people and utilising music making to foster their natural creativity and emotional expression.

Martha has clinical interests in fostering and adoption, mental health difficulties, SEND and trauma, and is passionate about the power of music to support people in expressing themselves when words are not possible or feel too much.

In her spare time, Martha plays saxophone in a jazz band, sings in a choir and enjoys reading, cooking and walking her dog.

🎶 We are rhythmic from the very beginning.

New research has found that babies just two days old can anticipate rhythmic patterns in music. Even while asleep, their brains respond when the beat changes. Interestingly, melody did not create the same response, suggesting that rhythm may be something we are born ready for.

This speaks to something we see often in music therapy. Rhythm helps us feel safe. It supports regulation. It connects us before words are available.

Whether through a heartbeat, gentle rocking, or shared musical moments, rhythm is one of our earliest forms of communication.

We would love to hear your thoughts. Have you noticed how babies respond to rhythm?

Your two-day-old could be secretly judging your sense of timing, as new research finds we develop rhythm earlier than we first thought.

This Children’s Mental Health Week, the theme is "This is My Place." 🏠✨
At Ace Music Therapy CIC, we believe music therapy should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability. Whether it’s through the beat of a drum, the strum of a guitar, or the keys of a piano, we provide a safe, non-verbal space for children to express their deepest emotions.
Music therapy isn't just about the notes; it's about finding a place to belong. 🎵

We have secured funding for Wiggles and Jiggles for 2 years! 🎶🪇 And a huge thank you must go to for their generous funding ⭐

Support from the National Lottery Community Fund meant last term we were able to support 8 babies and their mums for 8 weekly sessions in Chelmsford. And we’re looking forward to supporting many more.

This FREE group is for babies of all abilities, including those with special needs, from 12 weeks to pre-crawling. Mums get the chance to support their babies’ early development through:

🎵 music
〰️ movement
👐 and baby massage

And not forgetting the importance of giving parents themselves space to connect, chat, and enjoy time with their little ones.

Wiggles & Jiggles also wouldn’t happen without our welcoming and dedicated team.

Led by Amelia, a Music Therapist, and Natalie, a Paediatric Physiotherapist, who make sure the sessions use music as a clinical tool to promote communication, emotional regulation, creativity, and self-confidence.

And we’re not stopping here!

📣 Several more sessions of Wiggles & Jiggles are coming to Chelmsford soon. Follow us to be the first to know when we open registration 📆

💬🎶 It’s Time to Talk Day.

Today is about starting conversations around mental health and reminding each other that we don’t have to hold everything on our own.

In music therapy, we often see how connection begins before words. A shared rhythm, a familiar song, a moment of listening. For some people, music feels like a safer place to begin expressing how they feel.

Talking can be hard. Finding the words can take time. That’s okay.

Whether it starts with music, a check-in, or simply sitting alongside someone and listening, every conversation counts. Being open, being curious, and being kind can make a real difference.

Today, and every day, let’s make space for talking, listening, and connecting in whatever way feels right. 🫂🎶
