I remember attending midwifery appointments when I was pregnant and being told that you were a “happy baby” — even when we found out you weren’t growing.

Your first months of life weren’t easy but you’ve always worn the most contagious smile.

You’ve grown into such a fun, cheerful, and happy toddler. We couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing human you’re becoming!

✨HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, JAMIE! ✨
May you never lose your cheerfulness and happy attitude!

We love you so much!

✨To old and new faces, this update was long due!

My life has changed completely in the past 12 months, and so has my coaching. Happy as always to share this journey with you all!

I couldn’t be more grateful for this first holiday together! 🌅

✨ So many precious memories made. He won’t remember any of them, but surely those first impressions will stick with him.

🌟 So grateful we both survived preeclampsia with minimum consequences and are here, where our prehistory began. I can’t even dare imagine what other narratives the pages of our story book could have. I’m just grateful this is the story we’re writing: mum and Jamie enjoying the seaside, swimming and paddle boarding together, just like when he was in my womb, and I had no idea my placenta wasn’t working.

💫 Happy 9-month monthiversary, Mr Peanut! We all love you more than anything else! 🥜

8️⃣ MONTHS POST PARTUM

(Technically 8+4 days, but I’ve been busy)

🥙 I’ve finally started to cut calories and dropped 2kg

🏋️‍♀️Training nearly back to normal (except I won’t be able to join a gym until Jamie starts nursery in September)

🙃 Sessions have been fun because now he follows me around and wants to train with me

In other news, Jamie started to stand up by himself 3 weeks ago, now he can already hold on to the rail with just one hand, shuffle, and take ministeps towards me. He’s also become super fast at crawling — needless to say, we’ve had to baby-proof the house quickly! 😂

🏥 Healthwise, in the past 2 months I had to take blood tests to rule out autoimmune diseases as possible causes of the preeclampsia, as the placenta histology showed abnormalities. I’m happy to say that they all came back negative, and I had a very positive conversation with a maternal fetal consultant. Apparently, I just have “bad genetics” but nothing more. Now I can leave all that behind, and start healing. 🙏🏽

Sorry for not posting much, but work has been REALLY busy lately.

Wish you all a lovely midweek! 💚

🌸 7 MONTHS POST PARTUM 🌸

⚖️ I haven’t lost any weigh this month (not that I even tried to 🤭🙈)

💪🏽 But I’m sure feel like I’m CAPABLE of doing things again!

🐒 Pull-ups slowly coming back (been doing an average of 40 a week)
🏋🏻‍♀️ All movements finally feeling functional again

👓Also, I started wearing reading glasses for work, and they’ve made such a HUGE difference! It’s unbelievable how much strain I was putting my eyes into, that in turn was making me feel constantly drained and dizzy!

As always, I’m just keeping things real. We’ve got almost 0 childcare support at the moment, so I’ve been training at home, quickly and somewhat inconsistently—yet, I’m slowly returning back to my old fitness levels. If I can, so can you!!!

Hope everyone’s had a lovely June so far!!!

6️⃣ months + 1 day
2️⃣6️⃣ weeks
3️⃣8️⃣ years old today 🥳

Just keeping it real as I’ve always done.
As I said many times, I’m taking a very relaxed approach:

❌ NO DIETING
🏋️‍♀️ 4-6x RESISTANCE TRAINING HOME SESSIONS
🚶‍♀️ DAILY WALKS WITH THE BABY CARRIER

I’m still carrying a lot of weight in my mid section, but I’ve regained most of my strength, and that gives me confidence.

In the first 2 months, I only did a total of 3 body-weight sessions, then I slowly became more consistent. However, I felt like I wasn’t making any progress until 5 months post partum, when my pelvic floor healed completely, and I was able to brace the core again.

The only exercise where I’m still struggling is the pistol squat, as I haven’t regained full stability yet, but I know I’m getting there, so I’m not too bothered.

I’m sharing this on my birthday, to show how little age matters. Never in my life would I have thought I’d be able to recover from birth in 6 months (let alone the preeclampsia and the long labour), even more so at 38 years!

So, happy birthday to me, I guess! 🥂

🌸 May is preeclampsia awareness month 🌸

My ankles started to swell very early on in my pregnancy—I ignored the symptom, as “it’s just pregnancy”.

I was getting spots in my vision quite regularly, but I thought it was “just tiredness”.

My “morning” sickness wasn’t just in the morning and it never really went away; in fact, it worsened in the third trimester.

One afternoon, early in November, I was waiting on my train at the platform, and my vision became so blurry that I was only able to see spirals in front of me. I got home, checked my blood pressure, and it was fine, so I left it.

A few days later, at a routine appointment, my BP was abnormally high, I was sent to the hospital, and admitted straightaway with a preeclampsia diagnosis.

9 days later (at 37 weeks), I was induced, and gave birth to my awesome son, Jamie. That was exactly 6 months ago today. He was barely 2.334kg, and had minor health issues for the first month of his life, culminating with an emergency hernia surgery 2 days before Christmas.

🌺 May is also my month, because tomorrow’s my birthday 🌺

On my personal FB, I’ve decided to raise money to support .foundation, because MORE AWARENESS and SUPPORT are so badly needed!

Had I known what preeclampsia really is, and how symptoms present, I would have never waited, endangering the life of both myself and my unborn baby boy. I felt so guilty afterwards, but in all truth, that wasn’t even my fault.

All I’m asking for with this post, is to think of, and send love to all other preeclampsia survivors (and those who, sadly, didn’t make it). No family deserves to go through the physical and emotional trauma ours did.

Hopefully, we can raise more awareness, and save lives! 🙏🏽

Our bond started inside the womb, has become stronger outside, and will continue to grow.

💍 Thank you for turning a drop of my breastmilk into this beautiful ring, as a symbol of this incredible journey… you captured a fragment of becoming and converted it into eternity!

I asked them to embellish the ring with turquoise genuine opal and rose gold flakes because these are Jamie’s colours, and I really wanted my ring to be unique. Many other options are available, if you’re interested.

👀 Scroll all the pics for some ring closeups!

Just sharing what I look like at the moment.

🟠 I haven’t dieted or trained intensely yet.

🟡 I haven’t slept well in months, obviously, and I haven’t weighed myself in weeks (last time I checked, I was about 10kg heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight). And I’ve lost quite a decent amount of muscle mass and strength.

🟢 My current priority is Jamie’s health, anything else comes second.

🔵 Do I like what I see? Not really. Do I care? Even less. What I do care for, is recuperating all the strength I’ve lost (pull-ups and press-ups have been so challenging!) and maintaining a good life balance, that allows me to keep training hard while prioritising my baby. I know muscle will grow back as soon as I improve sleep and nutrition… 19 years of consistent lifting don’t just disappear overnight!!!

🟣 I’ve been posting my training sessions in my stories. If you’ve been watching them, you’ll probably know I’ve been focusing on injury prevention and core rehab (as it should be).

💙🩵 Happy 3-month monthiversary, Jamie! 🩵💙

No longer a “newborn”.
Watching you grow has been the greatest joy of our lives, and we look forward to making more and more memories together… we love you to bits, Mr Peanut!!!

It’s been nearly 4 years since this shot.
I prepped for that shoot in lockdown, with virtually no access to gym equipment.

✨ I’m posting this today to remind myself of what I can accomplish under the least favourable circumstances.✨

I had big powerlifting goals for 2025, that I fear I might not be able to achieve because of my new life as a mum.

🌟 It might not happen in 2025, but I’m sure it will, at some point! 🌟

If you’re also doubting yourself right now, I hope this post reaches you and brings you comfort. Where there’s a will there’s a way! 💪🏽🙏🏽💚

14/01/2025

As Jamie turns 8 weeks old today and I’m finally healing from all the emotional trauma, I feel the need to address a few points, as I’ve read so much invalidating misinformation about preeclampsia recently. I know how easy it is to let negative thoughts and feelings affect your wellbeing, but you shouldn’t, and here’s why.

1️⃣ IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT! Whilst a healthy lifestyle including proper nutrition and consistent exercise helps manage symptoms and delay the onset of the disease, in most cases, preeclampsia is congenital, meaning it can develop regardless of your lifestyle.

2️⃣ YOU COULD NOT HAVE AVOIDED IT. Although either a high BMI or high BP before pregnancy increase the risk of developing preeclampsia, you can develop preeclampsia at any weight and pre-pregnancy BP levels (I had a BMI of 22, only 10% BF and my average BP was 110/70).

3️⃣ TRUST MEDICAL CARE. In most cases, BP will normalise within weeks of delivery, so you shouldn’t be afraid of taking medication, as it will barely have any long-term side effects. On the contrary, it will keep you and your baby safe.

🥩 BONUS: urine albumin in preeclampsia has NOTHING to do with your protein intake, it’s just how the disease manifests. Protein is an essential nutrient that shouldn’t be limited or restricted, especially when you’re growing another human.

🤰Ultimately, a NATURAL BIRTH is still possible in most cases, if that is your wish, as it was mine. However, it will probably take longer (I had an 80-hour labour) and be extremely painful. You shouldn’t shame yourself if doctors advise you otherwise or you change your mind: whatever choice you make is your choice and therefore valid.

Share with those who need to read this, and let me know your experiences in the comments! 🙏🏽

Nutrition & Health Coaching

My name is Gaia, I have a PhD in Philosophy, I’m a Certified and Recognised Nutrition and Health Coach graduated from Well College Global, and I’m currently completing my level 3 Personal Training Diploma. I’m also a bodybuilder and a food explorer. I’m also member of the UK Health Coaches Association: https://www.ukhealthcoaches.com/england/london/health-coach/gaia-domenici.

Like you, I was living a hectic life, disconnected from my own values, and I was feeling powerless, frustrated and unhappy with my shape, until I learned three great lessons:

  • You own your life and can change what you don’t like;

  • Body, mind and spirituality are equally essential for your happiness and self-realisation;
