Ocean-bound plastic is plastic waste at the last stage before ending up in our oceans. This is the last point where we can collect plastic waste in mostly large fragments, before they enter our oceans, breaks up into smaller fragments and causes devastating harm to our oceans and all its wildlife 🌏

We at Nature Unite are particularly passionate about the collection of ocean-bound plastic waste because we use it in out Nature Unite bottles. It is important that we are aware of what Ocean-bound plastic waste is, why it exist and how we can reduce it, in order to reduce the amount of plastic waste that enters our oceans 🌊

Did you know that more than 600 million people (around 8% of the world’s population) live in coastal areas that are less than 10 meters above sea level and nearly 2.4 billion people (about 30% of the world’s population) live within 100 km of the coast.

That’s a lot of people who can admire our oceans close up, and also those who must be particularly careful with how they discard of waste to ensure it never enters our oceans.

Let’s keep our oceans blue, together! 🌊

It’s a new year and we have a feeling that this will be a great one!

Let’s start the year with some inspirational quotes from one of our planets top Environmental Heroes, David Attenborough 🌍

🌍 “There is nothing left to stop us, but ourselves”

🌍 “We can only thrive when everything around us thrives”

🌍 “People care for the natural world when they see the natural world”

🌍 “If we take care of nature, nature will take care of us”

🌍 “The truth is, with or without us, the natural world will rebuild”

We will take these thoughts with us into 2021!

Thank you for sharing a picture 📷 from you morning walk!

There is no secret that we love our oceans! It’s the key reason for why we exist and why we believe its so important to inspire people to love our oceans and providing small yet powerful solutions in our everyday lives to help protect them!

There are many reasons for why we love our oceans, with these being a few 🌊 they are deep, full of life, strong, mysterious, calm, a home, unexplored, wild, warm, peaceful, diverse, vast, fun, majestic, quiet, mighty, stormy, wet, safe, cold, playful, alive, dreamy, boundless and every changing.

Why do you love our oceans?

We don’t know how 2021 will look like for us or our environment, but we have put together a 2021 wish list!

🌍 People will reduce the amount of things they buy and waste, particularly things that are unnecessary and bad for our environment such as single-use plastic

🌍 People to demand corporate transparency and companies to provide it to allow people to make an impact through their choices

🌍 More innovation, rethinking and redesigning to find solutions to some of our everyday problems

🌍 Improved waste infrastructure in countries that are particularly struggling with waste leaking into our oceans

🌍 Ultimately, these will lead to less plastic waste entering our oceans, keeping habitats and wildlife safe

Let’s keep our oceans blue in 2021, together! 🌊

1) US rejoins the Paris Climate Agreement
2) Reduction in air pollution
3) Blue whales sighted in South Georgia
4) Plastic straw ban
5) New eco-initiatives

And of course, we launched our Nature Unite reusable bottle this year! By using recycled Ocean-bound plastic we are doing our bit to help keep plastic pollution out of our oceans.

Single-use plastic items are the worst pollutants in our oceans and unfortunately, we have seen a massive increase in single use facemasks this year 😢 Did you know that..

⛔Single-use face masks are made of plastic and cannot be recycled but when discarded end up in landfill, incinerators or nature.
⛔ Brits are sending over 1.6 billion non-biodegradable face masks to landfill every single month
⛔ It is estimated that over half of the UK population are using single-use blue surgical face masks

This is why it is so important to use a reusable mask! To keep nature and our oceans safe from single-use plastic!

About Nature Unite

Nature Unite was founded in 2019, and we are on a mission to enable all people to be a part of the solution to the plastic pollution crisis. We do this by inspiring, identifying, and providing people with practical and sustainable solutions.

The Nature Unite bottle represents a real solution both by influencing sustainable purchasing behaviour and giving people the ability to fight plastic pollution but also because the Nature Unite bottle is made with Ocean-bound plastic, contributing to collecting plastic waste that would otherwise end up in our oceans.

We are a complete CO2 Neutral company and proud to be manufacturing the Nature Unite Bottle in the UK.

On behalf of our oceans, thank you!
